What is the opportunity?
As Director, Credit Management, you will manage a team of credit professionals who in turn support clients in the Corporate Client Group (CCG). You will manage a portfolio and the full range of credit, trading and transactional products including continuous monitoring and associated ratings oversight for that assigned portfolio. A key aspect of the role includes providing leadership for initiatives and leading by example as you foster continual training of the team as they support our internal partners and act as a key referral resource.
What will you do?
- Lead and develop a high performing team in which the members produce insightful, high quality work on a timely basis, managing their assigned portfolios in accordance with policies and procedures within the approved credit process
- Provide oversight and lead by example in managing assigned portfolio including establishing new and revised facilities, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions of loan agreements, completion of annual reviews and facility renewals, managing credit and transactional excesses, and ensuring continuous credit oversight
- Manage monthly/quarterly monitoring of assigned portfolio and borrowing base assessments and completion of annual risk assessments and credit comments as required
- Identify and assess the team’s portfolio with particular attention to deteriorating situations and ongoing monitoring of the portfolio, ensuring that focus is on both qualitative and quantitative analysis. Taking a view on the credit and borrower risks and recommending a course of action to CCG and GRM as appropriate
- Keep up with policy changes/updates and managing regulatory/audit priorities with respect to annual reviews and compliance verification, while conducting necessary spot checks to ensure quality of work and identify learning opportunities
- Foster continual training of staff to uphold Credit Management as a center of excellence for providing seamless support to our business partners and act as the key referral resource for CTM, R&M, CCG, LPM, GRM, or other internal partners
- Establish and maintain a positive and collaborative environment in which all team members are encouraged to excel through regular feedback and coaching on employee performance
- Work with Managing Director (s) and other team leaders in managing the Credit Management group and assist with other projects on behalf of the group as required
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 5 – 10 years of experience in Lending/Credit or Risk management
- Strong financial, risk analysis and accounting skills
- Proven people management and leadership skills with the ability to work in a team environment
- Professional written and verbal communication skills with strong PC skills, and an ability to prioritize work and manage competing demands from various groups with whom Credit Management interacts
Nice-to-have
- MBA, CFA, CA, or other professional designation
- Knowledge of Corporate Client Group/RBC Capital Markets credit processes and loan agreements
