Tax Manager
Nathan Wechsler is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to oversee tax engagements, build strong client relationships, and help develop the next generation of tax professionals. This role combines technical tax expertise with leadership, offering the opportunity to manage a diverse client portfolio while providing practical guidance to closely held businesses and their owners.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex business, individual, trust, and other tax returns while maintaining exceptional quality and technical accuracy.
- Manage a portfolio of tax engagements from planning through delivery, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are consistently met.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and provide practical, value-added advice to clients.
- Research complex tax issues and prepare clear written guidance and recommendations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, attorneys, bankers, taxing authorities, and other professional advisors.
- Build strong client relationships by delivering exceptional service and understanding each client's business and long-term goals.
- Delegate work effectively, provide meaningful review comments, and coach staff through the preparation process.
- Mentor and develop associates, seniors, and supervising seniors through ongoing feedback and technical guidance.
- Participate in business development, networking, and community involvement to strengthen client relationships, generate new opportunities, and support firm growth.
- Collaborate across service lines to identify opportunities to better serve clients.
Requirements
- Active CPA license is preferred.
- 6+ years of public accounting tax experience with progressive leadership responsibility.
- Experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns for businesses and individuals.
- Strong technical knowledge of federal and state taxation for closely held businesses and their owners.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and client service skills.
- Ability to mentor and develop staff while fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
