Description

At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.

This role combines political campaign and project management leadership with political giving strategy and PAC management. You will serve as both a political strategist and operational manager, representing policy goals to internal and external stakeholders while supporting Lyft's comprehensive political engagement infrastructure. To support our Federal, State & Local Policy teams, you will lead the development and implementation of political campaigns—including legislative advocacy and state ballot initiatives; while simultaneously driving our political giving strategy and managing all PAC operations in support of the company's policy mission. Reporting to the Director of Campaigns, this role serves as an essential support function for the broader Policy team.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Campaign Development & Management
    • In partnership with our Director of Campaigns, design and implement strategic campaigns leveraging tactics such as rider and driver activation and engagement; earned, owned, and paid media; and leveraging, creating, and supporting coalitions and third party partners.
    • Develop campaign plans with clear goals, timelines, budgets, and messaging.
    • Lead cross-functional collaboration across Policy, Communications, Legal, Product, Marketing teams and other internal partners.
    • Represent Lyft on industry policy coalitions, building third-party support as needed.
    • Oversee campaign execution, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
    • Act as a thought leader on political strategies, messaging, and tactics across the company.
  • Political Giving Strategy & PAC Operations
    • Own and drive Lyft's short-term and long-term political contribution strategy in partnership with the Chief Policy Officer and Policy Leadership Team, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
    • Set vision and strategy for Lyft's Federal PAC and State PACs, including internal growth targets and fundraising initiatives to maximize participation and contribution levels.
    • Identify high-impact opportunities to expand Lyft's political footprint and deepen relationships with elected officials and organizations.
    • Serve as subject matter expert on political giving strategy, providing regular briefings, impact analysis, and strategic recommendations to leadership.
    • Ensure comprehensive compliance with campaign finance law across federal, state, and local jurisdictions; manage external counsel relationships and establish robust compliance processes.
    • Lead quarterly state and local political giving cycles, including planning, budgeting, approvals, execution, and tracking across all Government Relations teams.

Experience:

  • At least five years of experience working in political campaigns, legislative advocacy, PAC activities, corporate political affairs, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated expertise in campaign finance law and compliance.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling corporate PAC programs and political giving operations.
  • Strong understanding of political strategy, project management, budget management, and compliance.
  • Experience managing relationships with elected officials, political committees, and fundraising networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex political campaigns, facilitate cross-functional collaboration, and manage internal relationships.
  • Key Skills & Competencies
    • Strategic thinking and planning with ability to translate political intelligence into actionable strategies.
    • Exceptional project management skills with attention to detail and ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder processes.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
    • Proactive self-starter who takes initiative and brings creative solutions.
    • Political acumen and advocacy expertise.

Benefits:

  • Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options with additional programs available when enrolled
  • Mental health benefits
  • Family building benefits
  • Child care and pet benefits
  • 401(k) plan with company match to help save for your future
  • In addition to 12 observed holidays, salaried team members have discretionary paid time off, hourly team members have 15 days paid time off
  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave. Biological, adoptive, and foster parents are all eligible
  • Subsidized commuter benefits
  • Monthly Lyft credits and complimentary Lyft Pink membership
