The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.As the Sr. Manager of Tech Project Management, you will lead a dynamic team of project managers responsible for the successful execution of critical and strategic projects spanning vertical integration efforts and final spacecraft delivery. In this critical leadership role, you will be responsible for the overall performance, development, and strategic direction of your team. You will ensure that all projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, directly contributing to Blue Origin's mission of enabling a future of millions of people living and working in space.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers, fostering a culture of accountability, and excellence.
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of a portfolio of complex projects, from initial planning and kickoff to final delivery and closeout.
- Manage the master schedule, budget, and resource allocation for all projects within the vertical integration and spacecraft delivery domains.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for senior leadership, providing regular, clear updates on project status, milestones, risks, and opportunities.
- Develop and implement standardized project management best practices, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and predictability.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and launch operations teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks, and develop contingency plans to ensure project success.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, implementing lessons learned and driving process enhancements across the project management discipline.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in project or program management in a high-tech manufacturing or aerospace environment.
- 3+ years of direct experience managing a team of project managers or technical staff.
- Proven experience managing complex projects through the entire lifecycle, from concept to delivery.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and guide teams and stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, including scheduling, budgeting, resource planning, and risk management.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Direct experience with spacecraft, launch vehicle, or satellite development and delivery.
- Experience in a vertically integrated manufacturing environment, managing projects that span from component production to final assembly.
- Demonstrated experience in building and scaling project management teams and processes.
- Experience with advanced scheduling and project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
Base Pay Range for:
WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20Other site ranges may differ
