Description

Overview

Make an Impact!

At McGraw Hill we create best-in-class, next-generation learning platforms that are used by millions of students and educators worldwide from kindergarten through graduate school. Our goal is to accelerate student success through intuitive and effective learning tools and content that maximize a teacher’s time and a student’s learning experience. We do all of this in a supportive, collaborative environment where you can grow your career in a way that fits into your life.

How can you make an impact?

As a Technical Product Manager, you'll act as product owner for 1-2 software development teams working on McGraw Hill's K-12 business and Open Learning platform. Right now, the focus is integrating a third-party assessment system and building out early literacy screening features. You own the product vision for your teams. You work across engineering, UX, business stakeholders, external partners, and customers to figure out what to build and why. You'll have autonomy within your domain—and the responsibility that comes with it.

This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.

What you will be doing:

  • Understand company strategy and use it to guide decisions; collaborate with TPMs and stakeholders to identify problems worth solving, especially around integrating external assessment tools into the platform.
  • Translate high-level goals into clear deliverables, maintain and prioritize the backlog, and make scope tradeoffs when plans change.
  • Use product metrics, user feedback, and market signals to guide prioritization, revisit decisions as new information emerges, and focus on building the right thing rather than hitting arbitrary targets.
  • Serve as the primary product contact for third-party technology partners; align on specs, data requirements, and timelines, and flag misalignments early enough to resolve them.
  • Partner with Program Managers and Engineering Leads to maintain team health and delivery, surface dependencies and risks, clear obstacles, and document API specs, data flows, UX expectations, and integration requirements so others can build correctly.
  • Triage bugs and customer issues, prioritize fixes, communicate resolutions, follow up on SLAs, and support demos, documentation, and training for the platform and software the team ships.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years in product management or equivalent; we value what you've learned more than where you learned it.
  • Experience working with software development teams on complex problems in iterative environments, including third-party integrations, APIs, or platform extensibility, with an understanding of the challenges of connecting systems.
  • Passionate about using metrics and user feedback to inform decisions; comfortable moving forward without perfect data while knowing when deeper analysis is needed.
  • Experience partnering across engineering, QA, design, and customer-facing teams; able to navigate competing priorities and tailor communication to explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical audiences and business needs to engineers.
  • You figure things out and use constraints to shape your approach rather than letting them stop you.
  • Interest or experience in EdTech/K-12 education; familiarity with assessment tools, learning science, or early literacy; enterprise or platform software experience; and awareness of education data standards such as LTI, OneRoster, or Ed-Fi. We value diverse perspectives and encourage you to apply if the role interests you and you meet most qualifications.
