CDL-A Drivers & Owner Operators Wanted
Crafted Staff is recruiting qualified Class A CDL drivers and owner operators for oilfield hauling, frac sand transportation, and dry bulk trucking in West Texas.
Applicants from all U.S. states are welcome, provided they meet the applicable requirements and are willing and able to work in Texas. The work is not remote; contractors must be able to report to and perform work in the operating area.
Two opportunities are available depending on whether you need a truck provided or operate your own tractor.
Opportunity 1: CDL-A Driver – Truck & Equipment Provided
Compensation: 25% of weekly billed revenue
- Weekly settlements
- Average weekly gross contractor earnings of approximately $3,000, with a reported typical range of $2,500–$4,000, depending on billed revenue and available loads
- Semi truck and trailer provided
- Fuel card, maintenance, and insurance for company-provided equipment
- Automatic sleeper trucks equipped with a bed, refrigerator, microwave, and GPS
- No in-cab cameras
- Dispatch and scheduling support
Actual earnings vary with available work and billed revenue. Earnings are not guaranteed and are before personal tax obligations.
This opportunity may suit experienced CDL-A drivers who want to haul oilfield materials without owning their own truck and trailer.
Opportunity 2: CDL-A Owner Operator – Lease-On Program
Keep up to 90% of billed revenue, depending on your equipment and insurance arrangement.
Available program structures include:
- 90/10 split: Bring your own insurance and equipment.
- 88/12 split: Bring your own insurance and use an available trailer/equipment option.
- 85/15 split: Need insurance and equipment support.
Weekly settlements and trailer rental options are available. Owner operators must have their own road-ready Class 8 tractor and meet the applicable program, safety, and insurance requirements.
Your specific split and any equipment or insurance costs will depend on the arrangement agreed upon.
Routes, Loads & Equipment
Depending on customer demand and assignment availability, opportunities may include short-haul, regional, and longer-haul runs. Most routes are local or regional, commonly ranging from 30–200 miles. Longer-haul assignments may be available but are not guaranteed, and regular cross-country routes are not the primary focus.
Local and regional assignments may involve approximately 2–3 loads per day, depending on demand and the assignment.
Materials may include:
- Frac sand, dry sand, and wet sand
- Cement, ash, and aggregate
- Other oilfield and dry bulk materials
Equipment may include hopper-bottom trailers, dry sand hoppers, wet sand belly dumps, pneumatic trailers, and double-box chassis. Loads and equipment needs vary by assignment.
Requirements
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A)
- At least 2 years of verifiable professional CDL-A driving experience
- Acceptable driving record and compliance with carrier insurance eligibility requirements
- No accidents within the past 12 months
- Required DOT medical certification and applicable drug/alcohol screening
- Ability to meet applicable safety and operating requirements
Oilfield trucking, frac sand, dry bulk, pneumatic, hopper-bottom, belly dump, cement, or aggregate hauling experience is preferred. Experienced regional and OTR drivers from other backgrounds may also be considered.
