What You'll Do
The Patient Safety Specialist (PSS) provides strategic and operational leadership for the facility wide Patient Safety Program. This role is responsible for advancing a culture of safety, reducing preventable harm, and promoting high reliability principles across all clinical and non clinical areas. The PSS leads and supports process improvement initiatives that target the reduction of medical errors and system vulnerabilities, oversees organization wide safety assessments, and serves as an expert resource on the system based causes of adverse events. Key responsibilities include partnering with all clinical and operational services to hardwire reliable care processes that reflect evidence based patient safety practices. In addition, the PSS plays a critical role in risk mitigation by receiving and triaging claims or potential claims; investigating and assessing liability exposure; coordinating with administration, insurers, and legal counsel; supporting discovery processes—including interrogatories, productions, and depositions—and representing the facility in hearings or trials when appropriate.
