Senior Administrative Analyst:
Under general direction, to perform, coordinate, or direct a variety of complex professional, administrative, operational, research, financial, and analytic duties; to coordinate, direct or manage complex administrative or operational projects or programs; and perform related work as required.
Administrative Analyst II:
Under direction, to perform or coordinate a variety of routine and complex administrative, operational, research, financial, and analytical tasks and projects; and perform related work as required.
Administrative Analyst I:
Under general supervision, to assist with a variety of routine administrative, operational, research, financial, and analytical tasks; and perform related work as required.
Senior Administrative Analyst:
Conducts or directs complex research and analysis; prepares and presents detailed and comprehensive written reports and verbal presentations containing complex information and analysis to a variety of audiences, including but not limited to the City Council; evaluates, develops, recommends, and manages the implementation of proposed or existing policies, procedures and practices; may develop, implement, or manage complex personnel programs; coordinates or directs budget preparation, manages budget expenditures and revenues, and may develop and implement performance measurements; analyzes, develops and implements administrative/operational changes in response to legislative requirements; responds to departmental and citizen inquiries; conducts contract administration; may conduct grant management; may conduct community outreach or develop, implement and manage community programs; may supervise, train, evaluate, and develop clerical and administrative employees; may make effective recommendations regarding promotion, transfer, and disciplinary action, up to and including termination; may direct or manage the operations of a departmental section or program; may serve as staff to elected officials; drives on City business.
Administrative Analyst II:
Conducts research and analysis; prepares written reports; assists with the preparation of and may give presentations to a variety of audiences, including but not limited to the City Council; assists with the implementation, evaluation and development of proposed and existing policies, procedures, and practices, including routine personnel policy; prepares budgets or coordinates budget preparation, monitors expenditures, and may assist with development, implementation and monitoring of performance measurements; reviews and analyzes legislation and writes legislative correspondence; responds to departmental and citizen inquiries; may assist with or develop, implement, and monitor contracts; may assist with or prepare applications for and monitor grants; may conduct community outreach or coordinate community programs; may supervise, train, or evaluate employees; may make effective recommendations regarding promotion, transfer, and disciplinary action, up to and including termination; may serve as staff to elected officials; drives on City business.Administrative Analyst I:
Assists with basic research, studies, surveys, and data gathering; prepares written reports and may assist in the preparation of presentations; assists with the implementation of existing policies, procedures, and practices, including routine personnel policy; assists in budget preparation, expenditure monitoring, and routine performance measurement monitoring; writes legislative correspondence; assists with responses to departmental and citizen inquiries; may assist with implementation of and compliance monitoring for contracts; may supervise, train, or evaluate employees upon completion of supervisory training course(s) as determined by the direct supervisor or department manager; may assist with community outreach or the administration of community programs; may serve as staff to elected officials; may drive on City business.Senior Administrative Analyst:
Employment Standards: Knowledge of principles and practices of public administration, governmental budgeting, and fiscal management; principles and practices of sound personnel management and supervision; advanced research methods and analytic techniques; applicable federal, state, and local laws and legislation and the legislative process; principles and practices of public speaking; modern office methods and procedures; spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Skill in operating modern computers and related software; exercising independent judgement and making decisions based on standard policy and procedures. Ability to conduct complex research, analyze data, and solve complex problems; develop budgets and manage expenditures; effectively manage projects or programs; prepare comprehensive written reports and related documents; interpret complex technical documents; make effective oral presentations; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, the public, and outside agencies; effectively lead, coach, develop, and motivate employees; review and evaluate.
Education/Training: Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance as determined by the City. Example combination includes, but is not limited to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a work-related field, and two years of responsible experience in administrative, budget, or personnel analysis, preferably including one year of supervisory experience. NOTE: A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration or work-related field may be substituted for six months of experience.
Administrative Analyst II:
Employment Standards: Knowledge of principles and practices of public administration, governmental budgeting, and fiscal management; principles and practices of sound personnel management and supervision; research methods and analytic techniques; applicable federal, state, and local laws and legislation and the legislative process; principles and practices of public speaking; modern office methods and procedures; spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Skill in operating modern computers and related software; understanding and accurately following oral and written instructions; exercising independent judgement and making decisions based on standard policy and procedures. Ability to conduct research, analyze data, and problem solve; prepare budgets or coordinate budget preparation and analyze complex financial and budgetary statements and reports; effectively coordinate projects; prepare written reports and related documents; make effective oral presentations; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; effectively manage and motivate employees; review and evaluate employees’ job performance and make recommendations for development; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, the public, and outside agencies; work independently using appropriate initiative to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines receive confidential information and maintain confidentiality; be well organized, reliable, and detail-oriented.Education/Training: Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance as determined by the City.
