Description
- Building trust and rapport within your team and learning internal processes.
- Partnering with your internal customers - The Product Engine, which includes Category Management (Merchandising), Technical Product Development, Product Design and Finance.
- Understanding the current supply network and current vendors.
- Presenting your learnings and potential improvement opportunities.
- Creating a road map with the supply chain leaders on how to execute your recommendations for improvement.
What You’ll Do:
- Build, standardize, and mature disciplined operational tracking and management frameworks from scratch, ensuring complete visibility and data-driven predictability across all global sourcing workflows.
- Champion Sourcing Business Partnering. Empower team to serve as high-value quarterbacks for internal customers and stakeholders, driving global category strategy, vendor selection, and cost governance.
- Architect and operationalize proactive regional diversification strategies (spanning NA, Asia, and emerging markets) to buffer Article against severe geopolitical disruptions and market constraints
- Identify single points of failure within critical product categories and expand the vendor ecosystem or strategic partnership framework to systematically reduce such dependencies and improve negotiation leverage.
- Own global vendor accountability metrics - specifically On-Time In-Full (OTIF) production, cost of product, and factory defect rates, to systematically optimize the total Cost of poor quality or manufacturing for ARTICLE and protect brand integrity
- Partner dynamically with regional teams and peer functional heads to optimize the flow of information, decision-making, and product across the supply chain.
- De-risk the organization by building a self-sustaining sourcing foundation, effectively transitioning day-to-day operational subsidies away from the role to focus on long-term strategy and value creation
- Conduct capability diagnostics to support and scale global team members, intentionally aligning individuals to roles that match their true core strengths to unlock their full career potential and prevent bandwidth stretch.
- This role holds overall leadership accountability for the global sourcing structure. It directly manages the Sourcing teams at HQ, North America (remote) & Asia (Vietnam office).
- You will have 3 direct reports and 28 Particles in total within your department.
- 25%–35% travel. International and domestic travel is required approximately 4-5 times/year to regional offices and vendor facilities across North America, Asia, & Europe. Year 1 will require a higher density of travel to build rapport with regional teams & establish local networks.
Who You Are:
- 15+ years of progressive corporate experience in global sourcing, procurement, operations management, or supply chain leadership.
- Retail furniture experience is highly valued; consumer goods experience with a proven track record of Footprint Diversification is preferred.
- 7+ years of direct people leadership experience managing multi-layered organizations, international offices, and distributed multi-zone teams, while upskilling the team so the business is confident in their partnership.
- Proven track record as an operational builder with a history of scaling departments, refining processes, and maximizing team capabilities during organizational milestones.
- Demonstrated success in building and executing complex supply footprint transformations and regional risk mitigation strategies.
- Proven navigation of team alignment; comfortable breaking through functional silos, resolving matrixed team friction, and guiding teams productively through evolution and change.
- Completion of a Criminal Background check.

- The salary range is $230,000 to $290,000
- The starting salary will be determined by your transferable skills, knowledge, work experience, and the hiring team’s budget, which is based on business needs, market compensation data, and internal equity
