Wieland is hiring a 3rd shift Production Supervisor. The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading the safe, efficient, and effective operation of an assigned manufacturing department or shift. This frontline leadership role provides day-to-day direction to hourly union employees to ensure production objectives are achieved while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement. 

 

The Production Supervisor executes established operational plans, develops employee performance, resolves routine operational and employee issues, and partners with support functions to maintain efficient manufacturing operations. This role serves as the foundation of frontline leadership and develops the knowledge, judgment, and leadership capabilities necessary for progression to broader levels of operational leadership. 

 

 This role is located in Montpelier, Ohio (GX) and will be fully on-site. 

Responsibilities

Role Title Responsibilities:

• • Operational Leadership 

    • Direct daily production activities to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives. 
    • Coordinate staffing, work assignments, and production priorities to meet production requirements. 
    • Monitor production performance and implement corrective actions to address routine operational issues. 
    • Ensure adherence to production schedules, standard work, and operating procedures. 

    Employee Development & Engagement 

    • Coach, develop and support employees through performance feedback and training.  
    • Promote accountability, teamwork, and respect.  
    • Foster employee engagement and recognition. 

    Problem Solving & Decision Making 

    • Resolve routine operational, quality, staffing, and employee concerns using established policies and procedures. 
    • Identify process issues and implement practical solutions. 
    • Escalate complex situations appropriately. 

    Continuous Improvement 

    • Support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives. 
    • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.  
    • Encourage employee involvement in process improvements.  

    Safety & Compliance 

    • Promote a safe work environment and regulatory compliance.  
    • Conduct safety observations and address hazards. 
    • Ensure adherence to quality and operational standards.  

    Employee & Labor Relations 

    • Administer company policies consistently. 
    • Address attendance, performance, and conduct concerns. 
    • Partner with Human Resources regarding employee relations matters and labor agreement administration as applicable. 

    Cross-Functional Collaboration 

    • Administer company policies consistently. 
    • Address attendance, performance, and conduct concerns. 
    • Partner with Human Resources regarding employee relations matters and labor agreement administration as applicable. 

Role Title Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required or experiential equivalent 

• 3 years of progressive manufacturing experience  

• Demonstrated ability to lead daily manufacturing operations while achieving safety, quality, productivity, and delivery objectives. 

• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, production scheduling, quality systems, and operational performance metrics. 

• Basic knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles. 

• Experience administering company policies and supporting employee performance management. 

• Strong communication, organization, coaching, and problem-solving skills. 

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing reporting systems.
