Description
A telecom and technology company is seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager on a 6-month contract to drive early-stage commercialization efforts for its suite of tech products.
This hybrid role combines business development with product insight. The emphasis is on customer acquisition, pilot deployments, and partnerships. This contract serves as a trial period to identify a long-term commercial leader for the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and close B2B client opportunities across fintechs, NGOs, telcos, and SMEs.
- Establish 3+ strategic partnerships for channel access or service distribution.
- Launch pilot engagements for at least 3 products.
- Refine and communicate product value propositions in collaboration with marketing.
- Engage customers and internal teams to validate product-market fit.
- Lead coordination across sales, product, and marketing units.
- Set clear workflows, KPIs, and reporting structures.
- Deliver weekly and monthly commercial progress reports to the CEO.
Ideal Candidate
- 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or product management, preferably in SaaS, fintech, or telecom.
- Strong network and experience in African B2B sectors.
- Proven track record of closing deals and launching go-to-market strategies.
- Ability to work effectively across commercial, product, and executive teams.
- Entrepreneurial and outcome-driven, with exceptional communication skills.
Deliverables Within 6 Months
- Build a pipeline of 15+ qualified B2B leads and secure at least 3 closed deals or pilots.
- Secure 2 signed partnership MOUs, such as with telcos, banks, or aggregators.
- Develop a go-to-market playbook or customer journey documentation for at least 3 products.
- Produce a product feedback report containing 10+ unique customer insights.
- Develop a summary dashboard of key commercial KPIs.
