Description
We’re BDO, a global professional services firm connected to local markets. Our people work together to provide specialist expertise, helping businesses achieve their goals.
We inspire others, to go further. We create together, to reach higher. We build trust, to lead purposefully.
Whether you're building your future or starting your career with us, you won’t do it alone. From creating solutions for our clients to building careers for our people, we shape what matters, and that’s where you come in.
About the Role
At BDO, we're growing, and so is our Risk Consulting Services team. We're looking for a Senior Consultant to join our Internal Audit & Risk team in Brisbane, working with a broad range of clients to help them strengthen governance, manage risk more effectively, and build strong, sustainable control environments.
This is more than a traditional internal audit role. You'll partner closely with clients across a variety of industries, providing practical insights and forward-thinking solutions that help organisations navigate challenges, improve performance, and prepare for what's next.
You'll have the opportunity to work on a diverse mix of internal audit, risk management and advisory engagements while building trusted relationships and making a genuine impact for clients.
As a Senior Consultant, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality client outcomes, including:
- Leading internal audit engagements from planning and risk assessment through to fieldwork, reporting and stakeholder presentations.
- Conducting process walkthroughs, control testing and risk assessments to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Developing practical, value-adding recommendations that help clients strengthen their governance and control environments.
- Assessing and enhancing enterprise risk management frameworks, governance structures and internal controls.
- Supporting clients with the design and implementation of risk, compliance and assurance frameworks.
- Building strong client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor on risk and governance matters.
- Mentoring and supporting junior team members, contributing to our collaborative and high-performing culture.
- Assisting with business development activities, including proposals, presentations and identifying opportunities to add value for clients.
About You
You're someone who enjoys solving problems, building relationships and helping organisations improve the way they manage risk.
You'll bring:
- At least 2 years' experience in internal audit, risk consulting, governance, controls or a related field, ideally within professional services.
- Experience delivering client-facing projects and managing multiple priorities and engagements.
- Strong skills in risk assessment, audit planning and control evaluation.
- An understanding of internal control frameworks and control effectiveness testing.
- The ability to communicate findings and develop practical recommendations that drive meaningful outcomes.
- Knowledge of risk management and governance frameworks such as ISO 31000, COSO or similar assurance models.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage with clients at all levels.
