Position Summary:
The Life Insurance Underwriting Assistant acts as an instrumental resource by providing administrative support to the Underwriting team with case set up, ordering and preparing insurance company forms, tracking underwriting requirements, and entering data for new policies.
Position Responsibilities:
- Case set up: Create and update case record in database
- Order Prescription Checks and MVRs
- Order Attending Physician Statements (APSes) and track progress
- Complete life insurance applications and prepare for delivery, tagging for required signatures
- Prepare documents for signature on DocuSign
- Prepare and submit MHS paperwork for approval
- Distribution and filing of carrier product and underwriting updates
- Develop basic knowledge of carrier products
- Use resource websites to download correct and complete sets of current application paperwork for cases moving forward
- Enter application and policy information in company database
- Carefully review policies, and prepare policy delivery package and cover letter
- Fax documents to insurance carriers and vendors
- Copy and scan applications, policies, and other documents
- Create FedEx labels and packages, and oversee sending out packages via messenger service
- Break down Underwriting files when a case closes and transition the case to the Client Services team

- Ability to work with repetitive routine processes and maintain accuracy and efficiency
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and requests
- Ability to set and meet deadlines
- Ability to perform well under pressure
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple requests
- Proficiency in Word and Outlook and basic knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment along a steep learning curve
- Required to work on a computer for a substantial part of the day
