Description
Overview
Presbyterian Homes & Services is seeking a Production Designer for its team.
The Production Designer is responsible for the execution, preparation, organization, and quality control of graphic design assets for print and digital applications. This position ensures files are production-ready, brand-compliant, visually consistent, and technically accurate while supporting marketing initiatives across the organization. The Production Designer collaborates with the marketing communications team and operational partners to manage creative assets and implement large-scale updates across multiple platforms and materials.
The Production Designer manages assigned production work from receipt of an approved brief through final file delivery, confirming requirements, maintaining accurate project status, completing quality checks, and communicating risks to agreed-upon deadlines. This position reports to the Creative Director.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and deliver production-ready print and digital files that meet approved project requirements, brand standards, and channel or vendor specifications. Complete quality checks for layout, typography, supplied content, image resolution, color, bleed, links, and file formats; resolve discrepancies before final delivery.
- Maintain organized, current, and searchable digital asset libraries using established naming, folder, metadata, and version-control conventions. Clearly distinguish working files from approved final assets, archive superseded materials, and ensure authorized users can locate and retrieve current files.
- Edit, retouch, crop, and prepare photography and graphic assets for use across print, web, email, social media and other marketing channels.
- Execute approved updates across designated collateral, campaigns, templates, websites, and digital platforms. Track affected materials, apply changes consistently, verify completion against the approved scope, and flag outdated or conflicting content for resolution.
- Collaborate with creative team members to support production needs and implement approved design revisions. Manage assigned production tasks to agreed-upon deadlines, maintain current project status, and communicate progress and outstanding needs.
- Partner with marketing communications and operational departments to gather information, confirm content requirements, clarify conflicting feedback, and implement approved content updates and revisions accurately. Verify that required content and design approvals are documented before releasing final production files.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure production files meet technical specifications and project requirements. Review vendor proofs against approved files, resolve routine technical questions, and coordinate final file acceptance.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of templates, style guides, libraries and production workflows that support efficiency and brand consistency.
- Ensure all visual materials uphold PHS brand standards across print, digital and social media applications.
- Identify recurring production issues and recommend practical improvements to templates, tools, and workflows that reduce avoidable rework, improve turnaround, and maintain quality.
- Select appropriate file-preparation methods and resolve routine technical production issues within approved brand and production standards.
- As skills and project needs allow, support video production efforts through basic video editing, asset preparation, captioning, formatting, and exports for digital platforms.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field, and/or equivalent professional experience.
- At least three years of professional graphic design or production design experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in preparing files for professional print production and digital distribution.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Strong working knowledge of color management, print specifications, prepress requirements and digital asset optimization.
- Experience managing large volumes of creative assets with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Experience with digital asset management systems, photo editing, and file organization best practices.
- Basic proficiency in video editing, captioning, formatting, and exports using Adobe Premiere and After Effects, preferred.
