Work Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday 6:30 am to 2:30 pm (40 hours)
A Day in the Life of a Food Services Cook :
- Prepares quality meals for contract meal programs in accordance with established menus, recipes, production schedules, and portion requirements.
- Assists with the coordination of daily kitchen activities.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation environment, including performing routine kitchen cleaning and sanitation, in accordance with health department regulations and food safety standards.
- Follows proper food handling, preparation, storage, and sanitation practices to ensure food safety and quality.
- Follows established recipes, menus, contract requirements, policies, procedures, and other applicable guidelines.
- Safely operates, cleans, and maintains food service equipment and utensils.
- Packages meals according to established procedures, ensuring appropriate portions, temperatures, labeling, and presentation.
- Monitors and maintains appropriate food temperatures throughout the preparation, holding, and packaging processes.
- Communicates effectively with the Food Service Manager and other staff to support the daily operations of the Food Service Department.
- Completes and maintains required food service records and documentation in accordance with agency, regulatory, and contract requirements.
Food Services Cook Minimum Qualifications:
- Food service experience
- Ability to read and follow written material such as recipes and menus
