Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead the integration of components and products (turbine, main inlet valve, generator, hydro-mechanical equipment, governor, balance of plant, control system) to ensure maximum performance and operability.
  • Manage requirements, specifications, and product/system flow across disciplines.
  • Direct verification and validation activities for the overall product/system, including system-level testing.
  • Define product requirements for module/component teams, subcontractors, and partners.
  • Manage the technical interface between components and execution organizations.
  • Lead CTQ (Critical-to-Quality) and technical risk negotiations with component design teams.
  • Coordinate configuration management activities in line with project configuration control processes.
  • Drive engineering deliverables to meet the project schedule.
  • Actively support control of engineering expenses against project budget, developing working knowledge of cost-to-complete, estimate-at-completion, and margin tracking.
  • Partner with Procurement/Supply Chain (PSCM) to meet project material cost targets and ensure safety/quality processes are applied.
  • Collaborate with, and increasingly represent Engineering within, the Project Core Team to optimize project plans.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact with the Customer, Project Management, Value Chain, Engineering, and Partners — building toward broader project relationship ownership.
  • Own technical risk/opportunity assessments and contribute to broader project risk reviews (schedule, commercial, technical).
  • Provide technical leadership and support to project sites for issue resolution, including guiding cross-discipline coordination.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of a technical engineering discipline, analytical thinking, and technical expertise to execute engineering strategies.
  • Maintain awareness of industry best practices, market trends, and competitive differentiation.
  • Propose innovative solutions outside standard parameters to address complex or interdependent technical challenges.
  • Use internal and external sources/networks judiciously to support decision-making.
  • Act as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced engineers; begin developing team leadership and coaching capabilities.
  • Communicate expectations clearly, build consensus, and manage delicate stakeholder discussions — a core competency for future PM roles.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Control Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Engineering experience, preferably in turnkey electromechanical projects, including in project/system engineering roles.
  • Solid understanding of hydro power plant equipment and systems (turbines, generators, governors, balance of plant, control systems).
  • Demonstrated readiness to grow into broader project leadership responsibilities.

Desired Qualifications

  • Exposure to project financial management, cost control, or project controls tools (e.g., EVM, EAC/ETC tracking).
  • Familiarity with contractual/commercial aspects of turnkey project execution.
  • Prior experience coordinating multi-discipline teams or leading small project workstreams.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong commitment to internal and external customers
  • Transparent, engaged, and proactive
  • Responsive and adaptable
  • Leads by example
  • Effective in global, cross-cultural collaboration
  • Champions On-Time Delivery, Cost-to-Complete, Compliance, EHS, and Quality mindset
