Position Summary

St. Matthew Catholic School is seeking a collaborative and student-centered learning support professional to join our instructional team. Depending on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications, this position may be filled as either the Director of Resource Program or Resource Program Specialist.
Reporting to the Dean of Academics, this individual partners with classroom teachers, parents, administrators, and outside specialists to coordinate services for students with diagnosed learning differences, support the Student Support Team process, and strengthen the school's Resource Program.
This role is ideal for an experienced resource teacher, learning specialist, or learning support professional who enjoys working directly with students while collaborating with colleagues to ensure every learner receives the support needed to thrive. Candidates with demonstrated leadership experience may be appointed as Director, while those earlier in their leadership journey may be hired as a Specialist with opportunities for professional growth and expanded responsibilities over time.

Responsibilities
Student Learning Support

  • Coordinate the school's Resource Program for students with diagnosed learning differences.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement accommodations, learning strategies and differentiated instructional approaches.
  • Coordinate academic screenings and monitor student progress.
  • Support students through direct consultation and intervention as appropriate.
  • Serve as the primary school contact for families regarding learning support services.
  • Guide parents through referral, assessment, and learning support processes.
  • Coordinate communication with psychologists, speech-language therapists, occupational therapists, educational therapists, and other service providers.
Student Support Team (SST)
  • Participate in and, depending on experience and assignment, coordinate the Student Support Team process, including scheduling meetings, maintaining documentation, and facilitating collaborative problem-solving.
  • Prepare and maintain student accommodation plans, and related documentation.
Resource Program Leadership
Depending on experience and assignment, responsibilities may include:
  • Supervising two full-time Resource Teachers.
  • Coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Resource Program.
  • Fostering collaboration between classroom teachers and resource staff.
  • Supporting continuous improvement of learning support services across the school.
Required Qualifications
  • Valid California Education Specialist Credential, Pupil Personnel Services Credential, or another appropriate California teaching/services credential.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in special education, learning support, or student services.
  • Experience collaborating with classroom teachers to implement accommodations and differentiated instruction.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating Student Support Team (SST) meetings.
  • Experience in a Catholic or public school.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring teachers.
  • Experience coordinating a Resource Program or Learning Support Program.
  • Familiarity with San Mateo-Foster City School District assessment and consultation processes or similar public-school partnerships.
  • Experience collaborating with outside educational specialists and service providers.
  • Training in evidence-based intervention programs for students with learning differences.

Salary & Total Compensation
Position: Full-Time, Exempt
Compensation for this position follows the Archdiocese of San Francisco 2026-2027 Instructional Staff Salary Schedule, with placement based on credentials, applicable years of experience, and assigned responsibilities. Anticipated salary range is $66,000-$95,000 annually.


In addition to salary, eligible employees receive a comprehensive Archdiocesan benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, an employer-funded pension plan, employer-paid life insurance, long-term disability coverage, an optional 403(b) retirement savings plan, flexible pending accounts, paid sick leave, and school holidays and breaks.

The estimated total value of compensation, including salary and employer-paid benefits, ranges from approximately $82,000 to $113,000+ annually, depending on salary placement and selected health plan.
