Security Specialist Job Summary:
The Security Specialist provides armed security for Texas Precious Metals employees, facilities, transports, and company assets. This role monitors access and surveillance systems, performs regular patrols, supports secure shipping activities, responds appropriately to threats or emergencies, and documents daily security activity.
Security Specialist Responsibilities:
- Provide armed security to protect employees and company assets.
- Provide armed security during secure transports as necessary.
- Open and close the secure facility according to established protocols.
- Patrol and monitor company premises regularly to discourage criminal activity and maintain a safe, secure environment.
- Control the entrance and departure of employees, visitors, contractors, and vehicles according to protocols.
- Monitor surveillance cameras for disruptions or unlawful activity.
- Test security systems and, when needed, operate X-ray machines and metal detectors.
- Use provided communication devices, including two-way radios, clearly and concisely.
- Address trespassers and violators and detain perpetrators while following legal protocols until relevant authorities arrive.
- React tactically to dangerous situations involving criminal elements.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of firearms and firearms safety and successfully pass required firearms qualification.
- Inspect delivery vehicles and oversee the secure loading and unloading of shipments.
- Provide management with detailed reports of daily activities and incidents.
- Perform CPR or first aid when needed.
- All other duties as assigned by management.
Security Specialist Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent knowledge of security protocols.
- Ability to operate security systems and emergency equipment.
- Advanced knowledge of firearms, safe firearm operation, and firearms qualification requirements.
- Advanced tactical knowledge for responding to dangerous situations involving criminal elements.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to react appropriately in stressful situations.
Security Specialist Qualifications:
- Must have, or obtain within 30 days of employment, a Texas License to Carry Handgun.
- Must have, or obtain within 90 days of employment, Level 2 and Level 3 Texas Private Security licenses.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to patrol the facility and remain alert during assigned shifts.
- Ability to safely carry and operate required security equipment and firearms.
- Ability to respond promptly to security incidents and emergency situations.
Security Specialist Work Environment:
Work is performed in and around a secure facility and may include secure transports. The role requires consistent compliance with safety, security, and access-control protocols.
