Description
Pay: $16.50 per hour | Weekly Pay
Schedule: Flexible schedule | 40 hours per week
Weekends: Rotating weekends required
Assignment Length: 6 months–1 year
- Provide daily care for animals receiving medical treatment.
- Assist the veterinary team with animal restraint, treatments, radiography, and preventive care.
- Administer and dispense medications according to treatment plans.
- Assist with diagnostic testing.
- Document treatments and diagnoses in shelter software.
- Clean, organize, and stock medical work areas and surgical equipment.
- Follow proper PPE and sanitation procedures.
- Educate pet owners on responsible pet ownership and medical care.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and efficient veterinary environment.
- Minimum 1 year of veterinary, animal care, kennel, shelter, or related experience (Required).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience safely handling and caring for animals.
- Comfortable assisting with animal restraint and veterinary procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data entry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced animal shelter environment.
- Dependable attendance and a professional approach to animal care.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including rotating weekends.
- Fast-paced animal shelter and veterinary environment.
- Exposure to animal allergens, odors, loud noises, and temperature changes.
- Extended periods of standing, sitting, bending, lifting, and stooping.
- Ability to lift or restrain animals and other objects up to 50 lbs.
- Required to wear color-matching scrubs and closed-toe, slip-resistant shoes.
- Regular use of computers and veterinary medical equipment.
