TECHNICAL SALES REPRESENTATIVE & BRANCH SUPERVISOR
Grasslands Recruitment Specialists has been engaged to recruit a Technical Sales Representative & Branch Supervisor for an established, family-owned agricultural company serving poultry producers across Ontario. This unique opportunity combines technical sales and business development with branch leadership, giving you the opportunity to build a territory and your own book of business while overseeing the day-to-day operations of a newer Palmerston location.
Do you have agricultural sales experience and the ability to build strong, trusted relationships with farmers and producers?
Are you comfortable balancing business development and customer relationships with the responsibility of leading branch operations and supporting a small team?
If so, please read on!
WHY CONSIDER THIS ROLE?
Take ownership of a developing agricultural territory, building customer relationships, identifying new opportunities and growing your own book of business.
Combine technical sales and business development with branch leadership in a role that is initially structured approximately 50% sales and 50% branch supervision, with more time expected to be spent in the market as the customer base grows.
Join a family-owned agricultural company that has been serving farmers since 1950 and brings more than 75 years of experience to the poultry industry.
Work with considerable autonomy to develop your territory and customer relationships while having the support of an experienced agricultural team.
Earn estimated first-year on-target earnings of $85,000–$90,000, with the opportunity for earnings to increase as your customer relationships and book of business grow. The commission structure and potential bonus are currently being finalized.
Receive health and dental benefits, professional development opportunities, and training and support from industry-leading manufacturers.
Work from a newer 6,000 sq. ft. Palmerston facility that includes office space, a parts counter, showroom and warehouse while remaining closely connected to the broader team.
If this sounds like the right agricultural opportunity for you, apply today!
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE TECHNICAL SALES REPRESENTATIVE & BRANCH SUPERVISOR
The Technical Sales Representative & Branch Supervisor will balance two important areas of the business: developing the market for poultry equipment, products and services while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Palmerston branch.
You will spend time in the market meeting with poultry producers, assessing their needs, recommending technical solutions, preparing and following up on quotations, developing new business and building long-term customer relationships. You will also oversee branch operations, support and supervise staff, coordinate resources, monitor inventory and expenses, and help ensure customers receive consistent, knowledgeable service.
A key part of your role will be increasing the company’s presence in the Palmerston territory. You will be expected to proactively develop relationships, pursue new customers and opportunities, and build a strong pipeline of business rather than simply maintaining an existing customer base.
AM I A GOOD FIT FOR THIS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY?
- Have proven sales and customer relationship experience with demonstrated business development skills.
- Bring agricultural industry experience and can relate naturally to farmers and producers.
- Have mechanical or technical aptitude and are comfortable understanding and explaining equipment and technical solutions.
- Have strong communication, negotiation, customer service and organizational skills.
- Are proactive, self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of your responsibilities without constant direction.
- Can balance the competing priorities of developing a sales territory and overseeing branch operations.
- Have agricultural or technical equipment sales experience. Experience in poultry, feed, dairy or swine equipment, farm equipment, crop inputs/agronomy or other technical agricultural sales environments may be transferable.
- Have poultry industry knowledge (considered an asset).
- Bring two to three years of supervisory or leadership experience (preferred).
- Hold a valid driver’s licence and are willing to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory.
- Are proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Relevant industry experience is more important than formal education for this position.
