About this role 

Within the Promotion and Optimisation department, as a Senior Data Scientist, you will drive the intelligence behind our marketing campaigns. Sitting at the intersection of advanced machine learning and commercial reality, you will build models that optimize offer allocation across millions of users and global markets.You will lead end-to-end data science and AI projects, from ideation and model design to production deployment. You will utilise causal inference, uplift modelling, optimisation techniques, and advanced LLM tools to solve complex marketing decisions.

Furthermore, you will act as a bridge between data science and the business, using causal measurement to evaluate the real-world impact of our strategies and proactively identifying new opportunities to improve promotion efficiency and customer experience. You will ensure our technical solutions are robust, scalable, and impactful.

These are some of the key components to the position: 

• Project Leadership & Innovation: Take full ownership of complex DS projects, aiming high to spot ML opportunities that reduce wasted spend and drive order growth.
• Advanced Modeling & Optimisation: Develop models predicting incremental impact per user, offer, and market to drive excellence across all promotional strategies.
• AI Engineering & Production: Design and deploy scalable, production-grade code and ML pipelines integrated seamlessly into cloud infrastructure.
• Causal Inference & Experimentation: Apply causal inference methods and randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to measure true incremental impact across markets.
• Stakeholder Partnership: Act as a technical partner to leadership through close collaboration, translating complex model outcomes into clear business decisions.
• Mentorship & Best Practices: Champion high coding standards, conduct code reviews, and guide colleagues through technical roadblocks to help one another succeed.

What will you bring to the team?

• Proven experience as a Data Scientist, with a strong portfolio of delivering impactful projects in a commercial environment.
• Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of uplift modelling, causal inference (meta-learvers, treatment effect estimation), and experimentation (A/B testing, RCTs).
• Plus to have experience with optimisation techniques (budget-constrained allocation, knapsack problems), advanced AI tools and decision-focused learning.
• You are comfortable writing production-quality Python code. Experience with MLOps tools, containerisation (Docker), and orchestration (Airflow/Dagster) is essential.
• Experience with Cloud platforms (GCP/Vertex AI preferred, or AWS/SageMaker) and handling large datasets via SQL/BigQuery.
• A proactive mindset with the vision to spot new opportunities for data-driven improvements in promotional strategy and marketing investment.
• Experience in e-commerce, marketplace, on-demand delivery, or consumer-facing tech industries is a strong asset.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making.
