Role summary: The (USA) Staff, Software Engineer plays a critical role in delivering scalable platform capabilities and driving the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. This position requires expertise in cloud-native architecture, AI/ML integration, and software security to build robust, modular solutions. The role involves technical leadership, mentorship, and collaboration across teams to ensure alignment with business goals and engineering excellence. The engineer will apply data-driven decision-making and innovation to continuously improve processes, tools, and products while maintaining high standards of quality and integrity.
About the team:
The Global Security & Investigations Technology team develops intelligent, scalable platforms that empower Walmart to anticipate, prevent, and respond to security and operational risks. Leveraging AI-driven innovation, data insights, and resilient engineering, the team supports investigators, security operators, and aviation units by enhancing decision-making, automating processes, and strengthening compliance. Focused on platform design, software development, and continuous improvement, the team delivers secure, scalable solutions that drive global business growth and operational excellence. Collaboration, technical leadership, and innovation are central to advancing technology-enabled security capabilities worldwide. What you'll do:

• Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.

• Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.

• Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.

• Lead system design reviews to validate feasibility, quality, and alignment with architectural standards.

• Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components using multiple programming languages.

• Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering best practices.

What you'll bring:

• Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to build scalable and resilient platforms.

• Strong proficiency in software design patterns, Front end and backend design an development, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.

• Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including  coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and provide technical leadership to  foster growth and ensure engineering excellence.

• Skilled in debugging, remedial action, and applying software security  best practices.

• Data-driven decision-making skills to define metrics  and optimize development processes.

• Effective collaboration and communication across technical and  business stakeholders.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements

• Utilize data-driven approaches to define success metrics and optimize development processes.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
