Project Manager - Design & Build
Location: 100% Onsite - role can be based out of any of our Northeast hubs.
Position Summary
Compass is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its National Workplace Operations & Facilities team. This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of construction, capital improvement, and facility maintenance projects across the company's national office footprint. The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer-focused, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while collaborating with internal stakeholders, external consultants, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Construction & Capital Projects
- Manage office build-outs, relocations, and capital refresh projects from planning through completion.
- Develop project scopes, RFPs, bid packages, and procurement strategies tailored to project objectives and local market conditions.
- Oversee external project managers, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and tracking tools to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Conduct project due diligence to identify risks, building conditions, and potential constraints.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to align project schedules, budgets, and business requirements.
- Ensure all projects meet Compass design, quality, and brand standards.
Capital Planning & Budget Management
- Support the development and management of annual capital expenditure (CapEx) budgets.
- Track project spending and provide budget forecasting and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to optimize project costs while maintaining quality and schedule objectives.
Facilities & Maintenance Programs
- Evaluate and enhance recurring maintenance programs to align with industry best practices.
- Ensure compliance with lease obligations and facility maintenance requirements.
- Serve as a key resource for regional facilities-related issues and escalations.
- Manage capital maintenance projects valued at $100K or greater.
Qualifications
- 5–7+ years of experience managing commercial construction, workplace, or facilities projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management, or a related field.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong budget management and financial tracking experience.
- Proficiency with construction and project management software.
- Working knowledge of commercial building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical distribution, and fire/life safety systems.
- Ability to review drawings, identify constructability concerns, and collaborate with design and construction teams to resolve issues.
- Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed to support project execution (approx 30%).
- Ability to perform occasional physical activities, including site inspections, construction walkthroughs, and office audits.
Compensation:
The base pay range for this position is $119,300-$132,600 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location. Minimum wage for the position will always be met.
