Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) – School-Based

Location: Baltimore Metropolitan Area, MDSetting: Public School District | Multiple School SitesStart Date: August 31, 2026Schedule: Full-Time | 37.5 Hours per Week | W2 Employment

HealthPRO Pediatrics is seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a full-time, school-based opportunity in the Baltimore Metropolitan Area.

This itinerant position supports students from elementary through high school across multiple school locations. You will maintain an approximate direct-service caseload of 10 students while also providing consultations and conducting evaluations as needed.

Responsibilities

Provide Specialized Instruction

  • Provide individualized special education services to students with visual impairments based on their IEPs.
  • Use current best practices and instructional strategies to support students' educational progress and independence.
  • Adapt instruction, materials, and learning environments to meet individual student needs.
  • Support students across elementary, middle, and high school settings.

Conduct Screenings & Evaluations

  • Conduct initial screenings and comprehensive evaluations as needed.
  • Assess students' educational needs and make recommendations for appropriate services and supports.
  • Collaborate with school teams to identify student needs related to visual impairments.

Support the IEP Process

  • Participate in the IEP process for students receiving special education services.
  • Assist in developing present levels of performance, goals, objectives, and service recommendations.
  • Provide services in accordance with prescribed IEP requirements.
  • Collaborate with educational teams to monitor student progress and adjust recommendations as needed.

Collaborate With Schools & Families

  • Consult and collaborate with teachers, school staff, related service providers, and families.
  • Provide guidance regarding students' educational needs, accommodations, and appropriate supports.
  • Build effective relationships with culturally diverse students and families.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support student success.

Maintain Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation required by the district.
  • Complete service notes, monthly summaries, annual IEP documentation, evaluations, and other required records.
  • Ensure services are provided in accordance with applicable district, state, and special education requirements.

Qualifications

  • Current license or certification required to practice as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in the state of Maryland.
  • Experience working with students with visual impairments in an educational setting preferred.
  • Experience working effectively with culturally diverse students and families.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with school-based teams.
  • Ability to travel between multiple school locations.
  • Commitment to ongoing continuing education and professional development.
