Are you a skilled legal professional with a passion for providing strategic guidance and resolving complex disputes?

 

Gallagher, a global leader in insurance brokerage and risk management, is seeking a talented Legal Counsel with High Court commercial litigation experience (gained in private practice or in-house) to join our dynamic legal team.

 

As part of our Legal team, you’ll be working in a supportive and collegiate team to identify and advocate the legal and associated risks facing Gallagher.  Your expertise will guide our UK and EMEA businesses, helping them make informed decisions that align with Gallagher’s overall and divisional strategies.  We’ll be looking for you to offer expert legal advice and strategic solutions in a range of actual or potential contentious matters, particularly in the realm of employee competition litigation.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a contentious lawyer looking to gain experience with one of the world’s largest insurance brokerage firms.

 

We are flexible in terms of work location – you could be based in one of our regional offices throughout the UK and/or work from home.  Occasional travel to London is required.

How you'll make an impact

• Provide legal and tactical advice and guidance on a range of contentious matters with particular focus on restrictive covenants and employment contractual obligations.
• Manage a range of litigation and pre-action dispute resolution, particularly in the field of employee competition, including:
  • Working with our business to identify and understand the facts, issues and risks;
  • Drafting correspondence to send to opposing parties and their legal representatives;
  • Instructing and overseeing the use of outside counsel, when appropriate;
  • Assisting with preparation of management reports for Gallagher’s Boards and senior management;
  • Exercising proportionate and commercial judgement.
• Provide accurate and practical advice reflecting English law, but also guidance on matters involving other legal systems. 
• Assist in enhancing processes to mitigate risk and deliver training sessions to the business on a range of topic areas.
• Build and maintain excellennt relationships with Gallagher’s businesses and senior management.

About you

• Qualified solicitor with sound technical knowledge and experience of High Court (England & Wales) litigation and dispute resolution.
• A solicitor with the experience typically gained over 5 years of post-qualification practice
• Experience of dealing with litigation and/or pre-action correspondence relating to restrictive covenants and team move disputes.
• Knowledge of the insurance industry is helpful but not essential.
• Proven drafting, analytical and communication skills with the ability to distil complex issues into clear, actionable advice.
• Ability to develop excellent  working relationships and inspire the trust of senior stakeholders.
• Right to work in the UK.
