We're currently looking for a Part-Time Nanny in Bellingham, WA (98229)
A warm and welcoming family in the Geneva neighborhood is seeking a caring and dependable part-time nanny for their 4-year-old daughter during the school year, with the goal of a long-term fit (ideally 1 year or more). The family needs someone who can create a calm, engaging, and nurturing environment during morning hours while parents work from home, then drop their daughter off at preschool nearby. On Fridays (no school), the nanny would provide full-day care.
The ideal candidate is patient, playful, and reliable, and enjoys engaging preschool-aged children in fun, age-appropriate activities while supporting their daily routine with kindness and encouragement.
Schedule:
- Monday-Thursday: 8:30am-12:00pm (arrive at the family's home, care for the child, then drop off at school by noon; school runs 12:00-3:00pm)
- Friday: 8:30am-4:30pm (no school)
Start Date: Tuesday, September 8th (or ASAP)
Rate: $20-$25 per hour (based on experience)
1 Child: 4-year-old, girl
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive and engaging care during morning hours
- Prepare simple breakfast items and snacks (toast, fruit, granola bars, etc. - no cooking required)
- Assist with bathroom needs (assist with clothing adjustments as needed)
- Engage the child in age-appropriate activities such as reading, coloring, crafts, and playtime
- Take walks or visit nearby parks
- Drop off at school by noon Monday-Thursday
- On Fridays: full day of engaging care, meals/snacks, activities, and outings
- Perform light tidying related to childcare activities and meals
- Comfortable around the family's friendly dog
- Large Great Pyrenees mix. She's very goofy and warms up quickly, no major pet care needs are required, just letting her in/outside
Requirements
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Previous childcare experience required; 2 years preferred
- CPR certified (or willing to become certified)
- Able to provide 2 childcare-related references
- Able to pass background and social media screening
- Driving screening and proof of insurance required (driving the child to/from school is part of this role)
Compensation + Benefits
This position pays $20-$25 per hour depending on experience and offers guaranteed weekly hours (approximately 22 hours/week).
