Pay: $25.50 per hour
Schedule: 42 hours per week | 12-hour shifts
Work Schedule
- Tuesday: 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM
- Wednesday - Friday: 5:45 AM - 6:00 PM
- Approximately 42 hours per week
- Additional hours may be available when operationally necessary.
Position Overview
Citadel Security USA is hiring a professional and dependable Armed Security Officer to provide security assistance in Glenwood Springs. This position involves working alongside authorized personnel, maintaining awareness of activity in assigned areas, supporting established security procedures, and responding appropriately to situations requiring attention.
The officer may be assigned to duties involving booking and housing areas and may also assist with authorized transportation assignments involving medical appointments. This position requires maturity, discretion, strong situational awareness, and the ability to remain composed while working in a highly structured environment.
Responsibilities
Assigned-Area Security
- Maintain a professional armed presence throughout designated work areas.
- Support authorized personnel with security-related responsibilities in assigned booking and housing areas.
- Observe activity and recognize behavior or conditions that may present a security or safety concern.
- Conduct assigned checks and monitoring activities according to established procedures.
- Help preserve orderly and controlled conditions within designated areas.
- Follow company requirements, assignment instructions, and applicable post orders.
- Communicate unusual observations or developing concerns to the appropriate supervisor or authorized personnel.
- Respond to security situations within the scope of assigned responsibilities and established procedures.
Transportation & Escort Support
- Provide armed security assistance during authorized transportation assignments.
- Accompany designated personnel during transportation to and from medical appointments when assigned.
- Maintain continuous awareness of surroundings, routes, and changing conditions during transportation.
- Follow established movement, transportation, and safety procedures.
- Remain attentive to potential security concerns throughout the assignment.
- Work cooperatively with authorized personnel during transportation-related activities.
- Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor when interacting with staff, medical personnel, and other authorized individuals.
Reporting & Shift Communication
- Complete required activity logs and security documentation accurately.
- Prepare incident reports when significant events or security concerns occur.
- Record relevant facts, observations, and actions taken during incidents.
- Provide timely updates to supervisors regarding noteworthy events or changes in conditions.
- Follow designated reporting procedures and approved documentation systems.
- Communicate pertinent information during shift briefings or handoffs.
- Protect confidential and sensitive information encountered while performing assigned duties.
Professional Conduct
- Maintain a calm and professional approach during routine and challenging situations.
- Exercise sound judgment when determining the appropriate response to security concerns.
- Follow lawful instructions from authorized personnel.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries and professional communication at all times.
- Work effectively with deputies, security personnel, supervisors, medical personnel, and other authorized staff.
- Represent Citadel Security USA professionally throughout every assignment.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Personal firearm required, subject to applicable laws and company requirements.
- Must have a clean background and successfully complete all required screening.
- Ability to consistently work the assigned 12-hour schedule.
- Strong observation and situational-awareness skills.
- Ability to remain attentive during extended shifts.
- Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions, post orders, and established procedures.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain composed and use sound judgment during challenging circumstances.
- Ability to work cooperatively with authorized personnel and members of the assigned team.
- Dependable attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct.
Required Training
Selected candidates must complete three days of required training in Grand Junction before beginning regular duties at the assigned location.
Candidates must:
- Be available to travel to Grand Junction for the required training.
- Successfully complete the required training before reporting to the assigned location.
- Participate in additional assignment-specific training when required.
- Demonstrate an understanding of applicable procedures before working independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as an armed security officer.
- Background in military service, law enforcement, corrections, detention, or a related security environment.
- Experience working in controlled-access or security-sensitive settings.
- Previous experience assisting with authorized transportation or medical-transfer assignments.
- Familiarity with security reports, activity logs, and incident documentation.
- Experience working closely with law enforcement or other authorized personnel.
- Strong conflict-management and practical decision-making skills.
- Ability to remain focused and professional during stressful or rapidly changing situations.
