Description
Skills and experience desired:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 6 years of experience in IoT embedded product validation, including mobile application testing on iOS and Android platforms, with at least 3 years of experience working with Joint Design Manufacturers (JDMs) in product development, verification, and release validation.
- Strong technical expertise in defining end-to-end test strategies for connected products, including the review and approval of test plans, test scenarios, test cases, requirements traceability, test coverage, and validation reports, ensuring comprehensive coverage of electronics, firmware, connectivity, and system-level requirements.
- Experience working with Joint Design Manufacturers (JDMs), external engineering partners, and test teams to develop and execute robust validation strategies with minimal test gaps, driving quality improvements through risk-based testing, design-for-testability reviews, and effective defect management throughout the product lifecycle.
- Experience working closely with JDM test teams to develop and deploy automated test frameworks, test infrastructure, and validation environments for functional, regression, reliability, robustness, endurance, fault-injection, recovery, and stress testing to improve test efficiency and product quality.
- Experience leading independent acceptance testing and validation of JDM deliverables, ensuring reported results are accurate, reproducible, and supported by sufficient test evidence, including reviewing test coverage, assessing validation quality, independently verifying critical requirements, reproducing key issues where necessary, and providing objective recommendations on product readiness and quality risks.
- Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to coach and mentor teams, drive execution across hardware, electronics, firmware, software, and manufacturing disciplines, and effectively resolve complex technical issues with internal and external stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience developing measurement, control, and automation solutions using Arduino, Raspberry Pi, NI DAQ, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in test automation development using Python and associated automation frameworks.
- Experience specifying, developing, and executing system verification and validation tests using automated instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in system-level debugging, root cause analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
- Solid understanding of electronics, system integration, sensors, actuators, and embedded systems, with the ability to interpret schematics and PCB layouts.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead the definition and execution of system verification and validation strategies, translating product and system requirements into robust validation plans, test methodologies, and automation solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, Joint Design Manufacturers (JDMs), external engineering partners, and test teams to align verification approaches, test automation strategies, quality expectations, and delivery commitments throughout the product lifecycle.
- Specify, design, and develop test fixtures, instrumentation, measurement systems, data acquisition hardware, and automation tools to support system-level verification activities.
- Lead the development and execution of manual and automated system tests, ensuring comprehensive coverage of functional, robustness, reliability, and performance requirements.
- Analyse test results, identify trends and risks, provide actionable feedback to engineering teams, and drive data-driven product quality improvements.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for product and test failures, improving product reliability and verification effectiveness.
- Drive the adoption of test automation, verification best practices, and engineering standards, improving test efficiency, coverage, and product quality.
- Present verification results, quality assessments, and technical risks to project teams, stakeholders, and senior management to support informed decision-making.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to verification and test automation engineers, fostering engineering excellence and continuous improvement across the team.
