About the Role
The Packaging Engineer II will be responsible for developing and maintaining packaging solutions in support of Soft Goods, including bags, luggage, soft coolers, and apparel. This role serves as a critical connector between YETI, packaging suppliers, and product manufacturers around the world, designing premium out-of-box experiences that balance performance, sustainability, cost, and brand standards.
What You’ll Do
- Lead development of packaging solutions for new products.
- Manage packaging specifications, including: dielines, artwork, material detail, sustainability attributes, pallet patterns, container configurations, and assembly/pack-out steps.
- Work cross-functionally with Program Managers, Category Managers, Design and Industrial Engineering, Marketing, Merchandising, Sourcing, Operations, international team members, and external suppliers to execute on-time packaging solutions.
- Manage packaging timelines for each project, ensuring milestones are completed in sync with product launch schedules.
- Monitor KPIs and support continuous improvement of YETI packaging standards.
- Research packaging innovations and sustainable materials across the marketplace and supplier base, sharing viable opportunities with key stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Operate as an independent, in-region engineer supporting a global team by proactively identifying and resolving issues, owning priorities, and collaborating across time zones to maintain alignment with global objectives.
What You Bring
- Greater than 5 years of relevant packaging engineering experience.
- Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Fluent in packaging testing methodologies, including ISTA and ASTM standards.
- Proficient in packaging software such as TOPS, CAPE, ArtiosCAD, or similar tools.
- Able to prioritize activities that have the biggest impact while effectively managing multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Desire to work in a dynamic, fast paced, growing global brand.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Experience working on new product development programs in collaboration with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
