The Evidence Software organization owns the mission to deliver digital evidence management solutions, consisting of cloud and on-premises software, services, and their corresponding evidence-gathering products.

Job Description

This position will be responsible for filling the agile Product Owner role for the Video Manager EX (VMEX) product within the Evidence Software organization. VMEX is a robust, on-premise software solution for digital evidence management, and this role is critical to driving its core functionality, stability, and connectivity.

The primary focus of this role is managing and evolving complex media workflows within VMEX, including Media Asset import, Incident Management, Retention policies, Sharing, and User Defined Fields. Additionally, this PO will lead efforts to define and integrate VMEX with both internal platforms and 3rd-party products.

Beyond feature development, a crucial aspect of this role is maintaining product health. You will be responsible for actively managing and prioritizing technical debt alongside new feature delivery, as well as driving the product requirements for automation testing. Relying on a strong technical background in software development, the PO will partner closely with Product Managers, System Architects, and UX teams to translate high-level functional and non-functional requirements into actionable technical inputs for the engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the backlog for VMEX media workflows, specifically focusing on digital media workflows.
• Drive the product vision and requirements for seamless integrations between the on-premise VMEX system and various 3rd-party systems or internal product ecosystems.
• Actively manage, categorize, and prioritize technical debt in the backlog, working with engineering leadership to balance system health with new feature delivery.
• Champion automation testing from a product perspective, defining clear acceptance criteria that translate directly into automated test cases to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers to align on roadmap priorities and define clear functional and non-functional requirements.
• Partner with UX Designers and System Architects to prepare well-defined, technically sound inputs (user stories, research spikes) for the development teams.
• Maintain a proper flow of features, user stories, and acceptance criteria in the backlog using Scrum methodologies.
• Review and prioritize the backlog for release and sprint planning, validating that completed stories meet acceptance criteria and comply with the Definition of Done (DoD).
• Actively participate in all Agile/Scrum ceremonies and maintain strong communication with the engineering teams.

Basic Requirements

• Deep knowledge in software development methodologies such as Agile / Scrum / Kanban
• Solid technical background in software development and software architecture, with an ability to understand complex backend workflows.
• Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with UK-based engineering teams.
• Experience working with system integrations, APIs, and connecting enterprise software with 3rd-party or internal platforms.
• Experience in validating acceptance criteria, and ensuring high-quality releases.
• Experience in balancing new product development with the strategic reduction of technical debt.
• Experience utilizing product and project management tools such as Jira, Figma, Confluence
• Ability to take complex user and architectural requirements and distill them into a format that is intuitive and clear for developers, UX, and non-technical staff.
• Proactive, enthusiastic attitude toward solving complex technical problems and building consensus among diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in Law Enforcement/Public Safety systems is a plus.
