The Senior Manager, Global Payroll & HR Shared Services is responsible for leading global payroll operations and HR shared services delivery across multiple regions. This role ensures payroll accuracy, compliance, operational excellence, and a high-quality employee experience while driving continuous improvement, automation, and standardization across global processes.
The role partners closely with HR, Finance, Legal, Tax, Technology, and external providers to deliver compliant payroll operations and scalable HR services. This leader manages vendor relationships, service performance, controls, reporting, and team development while supporting business growth and organizational change.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Global Payroll Leadership
- Lead end-to-end payroll operations across multiple countries and payroll providers.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, statutory reporting, tax filings, and year-end activities.
- Maintain compliance with local labor regulations, tax requirements, SOX controls, and company policies.
- Manage payroll calendars, governance processes, controls, reconciliations, and audit activities.
- Partner with Finance on payroll accounting, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Oversee payroll integrations, system enhancements, acquisitions, divestitures, and organizational changes.
- Manage external payroll vendors and service level performance.
- Drive payroll process standardization and continuous improvement globally.
- Monitor payroll metrics, service quality, risks, and compliance trends.
HR Shared Services Leadership
- Lead global HR shared services operations supporting employees, managers, and HR partners.
- Drive consistent service delivery across case management, employee transactions, documentation, and policy support.
- Establish service standards, knowledge management, and operational governance.
- Leverage ServiceNow, Workday, AI tools, and automation solutions to improve efficiency and employee experience.
- Monitor service performance through dashboards, service levels, customer feedback, and operational metrics.
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes and reduce manual work.
- Lead escalations and complex employee issues requiring cross-functional coordination.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and internal control requirements.
Operational Excellence & Transformation
- Develop and execute payroll and shared services improvement roadmaps.
- Lead process redesign, automation initiatives, and digital transformation projects.
- Drive adoption of self-service capabilities and AI-enabled solutions.
- Establish reporting and analytics that provide insights into service delivery, payroll performance, and workforce trends.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, restructuring activities, and business growth initiatives.
- Benchmark industry practices and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, develop, and mentor payroll and shared services team members.
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
- Establish clear goals, priorities, and development plans.
- Manage resource planning, workload distribution, and succession planning.
- Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position
- 8 to 10+ years of payroll, HR operations, or shared services experience.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience.
- Experience managing global payroll operations across multiple countries and vendors.
- Experience leading HR shared services or employee service delivery organizations.
- Experience with payroll compliance, controls, audits, and process governance.
- Proven success leading operational improvement and transformation initiatives.
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, system implementations, or organizational change programs.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Strong knowledge of global payroll practices, payroll accounting, tax requirements, and compliance.
- Experience with Workday, ServiceNow, and payroll platforms.
- Strong understanding of HR operations, shared services delivery, and employee lifecycle processes.

This is a hybrid full-time position based at our Princeton, NJ headquarters, requiring on-site presence Tuesday through Thursday.
Salary Pay Range:
$125,350.00 - $172,500.00 USD SalaryOur salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by several factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for bonus, commission, equity or other variable compensation.
