What you'll do...
Role summary:As a Senior Manager, Data Science, you will lead advanced analytics and network optimization initiatives supporting Walmart Business multi-node fulfillment strategy. You will develop scalable models across network design, capacity planning, cost-to-serve, inventory, and transportation to evaluate how demand should flow across FCs, RDCs, HVDCs, PDCs, IDCs, Stores, and other fulfillment assets. This role requires strong expertise in Python, SQL, optimization, machine learning, and data visualization, along with the ability to translate complex supply chain problems into actionable recommendations, partner with cross-functional stakeholders, mentor associates, and influence long-range network, operational, and investment decisions.
About the team:
The Supply Chain Strategy team at Walmart drives long-term network planning through data-driven strategies, advanced modeling, and cross-functional collaboration. The team assesses strategic locations, capacity needs, inventory flows, transportation design, and capital investments. Collaborating with Operations, Finance, Technology, and other departments, they develop scalable analytical frameworks using Python, SQL, optimization, simulation, and AI. Their insights support enterprise decisions on asset strategy, capacity expansion, fulfillment design, network evolution, customer speed, operating costs, and multi-year capital deployment, enabling Walmart to optimize its supply chain and deliver value efficiently.
What you'll do:
- Lead the development, assessment, and validation of Data science models using best practices to ensure accuracy, robustness, and scalability.
- Design and implement data visualization solutions that effectively communicate complex insights to business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into actionable data science projects aligned with strategic goals.
- Guide and mentor team members on modeling techniques, feature engineering, and data analysis methodologies.
- Oversee model deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement to maintain optimal performance in production environments.
- Drive data strategy execution by identifying relevant data sources and ensuring data quality and accessibility.
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience in data science, operations research, optimization, and advanced analytics for complex business problems.
- Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib.
- Hands-on experience with linear/integer programming, simulation, network optimization, scenario analysis, and sensitivity testing.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into structured models and decision-ready recommendations.
- Experience in network design, capacity planning, cost-to-serve, transportation, inventory, or fulfillment optimization preferred.
- Strong understanding of model validation, tradeoffs, ROI, and financial impact.
- Proven leadership skills to mentor associates, influence stakeholders, and communicate effectively with senior leadership.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
