Job Description
The APP will be responsible for the medical management of the hospitalized patient population within the scope of an Advanced Practice Provider. The term Advanced Practice Provider encompasses Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Clinical Nurse Specialists. The employee will have successfully completed a Master’s degree (or higher level of educational program) and have met the requirements for the respective State Board(s) (Missouri and Kansas). The APP will hold and maintain a national certification and licensure as required by State Boards and Saint Luke’s Health System, as well as other certification as obligatory for this role.
The PRN Hospitalist APP works 12 hours shifts overnight at the Saint Luke's Plaza and Saint Luke's East locations. There is weekend and holiday requirement with this role.
This position is accountable for advanced clinical practice in the care of patients with general medical conditions, requiring acute inpatient treatment. Responsibilities include obtaining and analyzing patient histories, performing comprehensive assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, coordinating care, and collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Role duties may include but are not limited to:
Completion of admissions, consultations, and responding to emergent situations in the inpatient setting.
Independent practice in the inpatient setting and collaborating with physician(s) as appropriate.
Ordering and management of appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies.
Responding to department pager for a period of time in accordance with department expectations
