Description
The purpose of this position is to administer and provide a variety of Social & Youth Services programs and activities and ensure the effective delivery of programs and services to adults, youth, families, and older adults.
Under the general direction of the Town Manager or their designee, the Assistant Director of Social & Youth Services serves as the operational manager of the department and is responsible for the administration of programs and services, personnel supervision, and assists the Town Manager or their designee with department fiscal management, policy implementation, and community partnerships. Provides case management services for adults, youth, families, and older clients, crisis response, as well as supervision and administrative support of the Youth Services Division Manager, youth services programs and activities.
Works closely with the Town Manager or their designee on the allocation of department resources, fiscal management of department budget and grants. Assign and supervise the work activities of staff, interns and volunteers as necessary. This position is also invested in making difficult technical decisions. The work requires considerable knowledge, skills and ability in all phases of social and youth service programs.
A Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy or Human Services, from an accredited college or university; plus five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in the social service field; including two years in a supervisory capacity and/or in management/administration. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
