Compliance Manager – Business Banking Compliance (Business Lending) – Permanent Position
The Team
The Business Banking (BB) Compliance team sits within the broader Risk and Compliance second line of defence (Line 2) function within CommBank. The team provides Regulatory Compliance advisory support, driving consistent and sustainable implementation of the Compliance Management Framework (CMF) and related policies and standards across the Group, and ultimately ensures compliance with regulatory, conduct and licensing obligations.
We are an established, Line 2 Regulatory Compliance team, dedicated to the provision of proactive, solution-based advice and support across all Business Banking business units.
The Business Lending team within BB Compliance supports product teams across business loans, asset finance, working capital, corporate finance and property finance. Our coverage spans small businesses through to large corporate and listed entities and extends to the teams supporting business customers experiencing financial hardship.
What a day in your role will look like?
Reporting to the Executive Manager Compliance for Business Lending, you will provide dedicated 2nd Line Regulatory Compliance advisory support.
Key responsibilities include:
Dedicated compliance advisor supporting Asset Finance, Business Financial Assistance (BFA) and Group Credit Structuring (GCS) teams but with an opportunity to work across other product areas
Partnering with the business to meet regulatory obligations and drive good customer outcomes
Providing practical and solutions-based advice, independent review, challenge, direction and training;
Advising and supporting Line 1 Risk teams to identify and comply with regulatory obligations (excluding Financial Crime related obligations) relevant to Business Lending products;
Reviewing and managing compliance issues and incidents, including review and assess root cause analysis, data quality and proposed remediation, rectification, and prevention plans
Managing engagement with Regulators (ASIC, APRA, ACCC, BCCC, OAIC) in relation to relevant Business Lending, Financial Difficulty and Collections & Recoveries related matters (e.g. ASIC breach reporting).
What will you need to succeed in this role?

Line 2 Regulatory Compliance advisory experience in financial services is desirable, preferably specific to Business Lending and credit products. However, individuals with experience in the financial services industry are welcome to apply.
Knowledge of relevant compliance obligations and requirements (e.g. applicable laws and regulations) that apply to Business Lending and the financial services industry
Sound reasoning and decision-making skills with an ability to support decisions and clearly articulate commercial, regulatory and customer implications of analysis and findings.
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively and interact/advise in verbal/written communications at all stakeholder levels.
Strategic and analytical thinking and solid business acumen.
Ability to prioritise, schedule and meet challenging deadlines with autonomy and self-sufficiency.
A willingness to learn, an inquisitive and open mind and a collaborative working style.
