Job Title: Accountant
Location: Mexico City, Mexico (On-site)
Type of Contract: Full-Time
Salary Range: USD $1,500 – $2,000/month
Language Requirements: Fluent Spanish and professional-level English (written and verbal)
Our client is seeking a skilled Accountant with experience in Mexican accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting to join their growing team. You will play a key role in managing bookkeeping, tax filings, payroll-related compliance, and financial reporting for international clients operating entities in Mexico. Your work will directly impact regulatory compliance, financial accuracy, and the successful delivery of accounting services to global clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Process monthly accounting transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and file monthly VAT (IVA), provisional income tax (ISR), and withholding tax (retenciones) returns with SAT.
- Manage CFDI electronic invoicing compliance, including coordination with PAC providers.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with Mexican GAAP and assist with US GAAP conversions when required.
- Support annual Corporate Income Tax Return (Declaración Anual de ISR) preparation and related schedules.
- Coordinate payroll-related compliance activities, including IMSS and INFONAVIT registrations and filings.
- Communicate directly with international clients and global referral partners in English regarding compliance requirements, filing status, and deliverables.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Mexican accounting and tax compliance, preferably within a professional services or outsourced accounting environment.
- Strong knowledge of SAT regulations, CFDI, IVA, ISR, and Mexican GAAP.
- Fluent Spanish and professional-level English, both written and spoken.
- Experience with Mexican accounting software such as CONTPAQi, Aspel, or similar platforms, as well as CFDI/PAC systems.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple client deadlines.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills in a client-facing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting international or foreign-owned companies.
- Familiarity with US GAAP or IFRS reporting conversions.
- Previous experience working with global EOR, PEO, or multi-country expansion service providers.
- CPA (Contador Público Certificado) designation.
