The Senior Finance Manager will play a key leadership role in strengthening the University’s financial management, management reporting, compliance, and finance transformation capabilities across a diverse portfolio of activities. The portfolio includes self-financing activities, China research entities, and Government-sponsored research projects. The appointee will provide high-quality financial analysis, business partnering, audit support, accounting advice, process improvement leadership, and finance systems expertise to support effective decision-making and robust governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial performance review for the University’s self-financing activities, while providing proactive business partnering, financial analysis, advice, and decision support to concerned stakeholders, senior management, and the Board of Directors.
• Oversee financial reporting, monitoring, accounting compliance, and governance requirements for China research entities, related cross-border operations, and applicable Hong Kong and PRC accounting standards.
• Manage financial administration, budgeting, fund utilisation, claims, reporting, audit schedules, and funding-body submissions for Government-sponsored research projects.
• Coordinate annual audits, statutory reporting, project audits, Board of Directors papers and financial updates, and liaison with external auditors, internal stakeholders, relevant authorities, and funding bodies to ensure timely and compliant reporting.
• Review and strengthen finance policies, procedures, internal controls, workflows, and operating manuals to improve governance and efficiency.
• Lead finance transformation initiatives, including process reengineering, ERP implementation, system enhancement, data quality improvement, and change management.

Qualifications, Experience and Core Competencies

• A recognised degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline, together with qualification as a professional accountant and membership of a recognised accounting body such as HKICPA, ACCA, or equivalent.
• Relevant post-qualification experience in management reporting, audit, finance transformation, or related finance functions, preferably in a sizable organisation or multi-entity environment.
• Experience in audit liaison, internal controls, financial governance, compliance, and PRC accounting or reporting requirements.
• Experience in process improvement, finance transformation, system implementation, business intelligence, or data analytics tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills, with integrity, attention to detail, service mindset, and good written and spoken English and Chinese; Putonghua proficiency is an advantage.

(Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
