JOB TITLE: Clinical Director
REPORTS TO: Deputy Chief of Clinical and Supportive Services
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday (9:00am-5:30pm)
LOCATION: Venice, CA, Access Center, Hybrid
STATUS: Full-Time, 40 hours/week, Exempt

Safe Place for Youth (SPY) is the leading service provider for youth experiencing or at-risk of homelessness in West Los Angeles. ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Clinical Director provides leadership and oversight of SPY’s clinical services, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed care across all SPY programs. This role leads clinical supervision, program development, and compliance while supporting a multidisciplinary team and strengthening integration of mental health, substance use, and wellness services.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Provide leadership and oversight of clinical services across all SPY programs, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed care.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve clinical programs, services, and partnerships.
- Oversee the delivery of mental health, substance use, and wellness services across housing and site-based programs.
- Oversee specialized clinical programs, including Connect LA, Pregnant and Parenting, DMH United Mental Health Promoters, Healing Arts, and substance use services.
- Provide clinical supervision to therapists, interns, and multidisciplinary staff, ensuring compliance with licensing standards.
- Lead group supervision, clinical consultation, and ongoing staff training across programs and sites.
- Develop and facilitate agency-wide clinical trainings and presentations.
- Support staff pursuing licensure, including supervision of clinical hours and field instruction for interns.
- Ensure timely access to therapy services, appropriate caseload management, and quality of individual and group care.
- Provide consultation, crisis intervention, and support for high-risk or complex cases, including responding to crises on-site as needed.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, documentation standards, HIPAA, and regulatory guidelines.
- Lead quality assurance efforts, including chart reviews, audits, and performance improvement processes.
- Monitor program performance, outcomes, and service delivery, providing regular reports and recommendations.
- Collaborate with program leadership and external partners to strengthen clinical services and integration across programs.
- Manage clinical program operations, including oversight of budgets, reporting, and resource allocation.
- Serve as a clinical leader and representative of SPY in internal and external meetings, partnerships, and initiatives.
- Lead performance management for all team members including coaching, disciplinary processes, and assurance that department goals and deadlines are met.
- Provide trauma-informed strengths-based supervision and professional development for supervisees.
- Provide phone crisis support as a member of the on-call leadership After Hours rotation, and serve in the weekend rotation for Access Center on-call leadership coverage.
- Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization.
Requirements
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Master's Degree in Social work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field is required.
- Active licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT) is required.
- Minimum 2 years post-licensure and ability to supervise licensure hours preferred.
- Supervisory experience is required.
- Experience providing direct services to high-risk youth including counseling preferred.
- Experience working in a homeless services setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of social service resources for youth experiencing and/or at-risk of homelessness.
- Working knowledge of trauma-informed and harm reduction service models.
- Strong crisis intervention and deescalation skills.
- Strong knowledge of mandated reporting, risk assessment, and safety planning.
- Experience managing programs, budgets and contracts preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, professional demeanor, and sound judgment
- Ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and gender identities in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to manage and support case management and clinical staff; adopts a teaching approach to providing clinical guidance.
- High level of personal accountability for the quality and impact of work
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Changes in the environment, such as the office or outdoors.
- Some nights and weekends may be required.
- Physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary- up to 15-20 pounds at times.

Driver Positions:
