Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and inspiring Service Sales Manager (SSD) to lead the DACH Service Sales Division in Germany.
In this role, you will drive profitable service sales growth, develop a high-performing team, and expand Agilent's service footprint across large and mid-sized accounts. You will be responsible for protecting and growing the existing services business, increasing Connect Rate across the installed base, and driving adoption of the full SSD portfolio in close collaboration with Product Specialists, Remote Sales, Field Service, Instrument Sales, Marketing, and Enterprise teams.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Leadership
- Own district-level service sales performance, including revenue, growth, margin, Service Contracts, Attach Rate, Product Mix, pipeline quality, and forecasting discipline.
- Drive portfolio-led selling and ensure the full Agilent CrossLab value proposition is consistently positioned with customers.
- Translate EMEA and SSD strategy into clear district priorities, sales plays, and execution plans.
- Lead account planning for large and mid-sized customers, expanding scope, share of wallet, long-term partnerships, and data-driven growth opportunities.
- Drive execution excellence through disciplined opportunity management, territory planning, customer prioritization, and pipeline management.
People Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a diverse Service Sales team across Germany.
- Set clear expectations, goals, and priorities aligned with SSD objectives and Ignite/Fusion ways of working.
- Build sales capability through structured coaching in consultative selling, portfolio selling, negotiation, customer value messaging, account strategy, and pipeline management.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and growth mindset.
- Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, talent development, and succession planning within the district.
- Build a strong leadership pipeline through talent identification, development planning, and coaching of future leaders.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Product Specialists to translate portfolio strategy into practical customer plays and strengthen team confidence in positioning the full SSD offering.
- Establish an effective operating rhythm with Product Specialists, Remote Sales, Field Service, Instrument Sales, Marketing, and Enterprise teams to accelerate opportunity generation and execution.
- Ensure early specialist involvement in complex opportunities, renewals, expansions, compliance discussions, digital solutions, and asset management conversations.
- Clarify roles and responsibilities across the selling team to deliver a seamless and professional customer experience.
- Represent customer and field feedback in portfolio, service, and go-to-market discussions.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a senior sales leader in strategic customer engagements, negotiations, and escalations.
- Partner with Service Delivery, Instrument Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Enterprise teams to deliver integrated customer solutions.
- Ensure consistent delivery of the Agilent Services value proposition, customer experience, and brand promise.
Operational Excellence & Governance
- Ensure disciplined execution of pricing, contracts, compliance, and approval processes.
- Drive visibility, accuracy, and cleanliness of installed base and service coverage data.
- Promote best practices, standardization, and data-driven decision making across the district.
- Maintain rigorous forecasting, performance management, and business review processes.
Expected Outcomes
- Deliver sustainable growth in Services revenue, margin, renewal rates, Attach Rate, Connect Rate, and portfolio penetration across the German installed base.
- Continually evolve the high-performing and engaged Service Sales team characterized by strong coaching, clear accountability, disciplined execution, and visible talent development.
- Strengthen collaboration across Product Specialists, Service Delivery, Instrument Sales, Remote Sales, and Enterprise teams to accelerate customer growth and improve customer outcomes.
- Expand Agilent's service footprint by increasing customer retention, growing share of wallet, and broadening adoption of the SSD portfolio.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven sales leadership experience, ideally within services, enterprise solutions, or other complex B2B environments.
- Strong commercial background with a track record of driving growth across large and mid-sized accounts and leading complex sales opportunities.
- Experience in Life Sciences, Biopharma, Pharmaceuticals, Chemical Analysis, Diagnostics, or related industries is preferred.
- Demonstrated success in leading, coaching, developing, and inspiring sales teams through growth and organizational change.
- Strong strategic thinking combined with a hands-on, results-oriented approach to execution.
- Experience leading in a matrix environment and collaborating effectively across sales, service delivery, marketing, product management, and other cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build customer relationships at both operational and executive levels.
- Fluent in German and English, with the ability to lead teams, engage customers, and conduct business effectively in both languages.
