Thank you for your interest in employment with Louisiana Tech University.

The Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences at Louisiana Tech University invites applications for two tenure-track positions in the Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences to begin Fall 2026. Specific courses taught will depend on the successful applicant’s expertise and departmental needs but will include courses related to their area of expertise. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s growing interdisciplinary collaborations with STEM disciplines on campus. The appointment will be 100% over the nine-month academic year (September to late May). Salary and start-up packages are competitive. Qualifications Requirements of the position include:

  • Applicants should hold a doctorate in a psychology subfield (area of specialization is Industrial/Organizational Psychology) by the time of hire (current ABDs are encouraged to apply).
  • Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s areas of research and expertise.
  • Aptitude for advising undergraduate psychology majors and/or doctoral and master’s students.
  • Demonstrated ability to be research-active.

We encourage applications from individuals whose teaching and scholarship advance an understanding of cultural and individual diversity in society. Candidates will be evaluated according to the overall quality of their academic preparation and scholarly work, evidence of research ability, the ability to make an interdisciplinary contribution to the University’s research mission, commitment to high-quality classroom instruction and student mentoring, and the strength of recommendations.

Applicants are asked to submit the following materials:

  • Current curriculum vitae
  • Cover letter
  • Statements describing their line of research as well as their philosophy on teaching
  • Names and contact information for three references.

About the Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences

The Department is dynamic, future-oriented, and congenial. We have 12 full-time faculty, which allows us to easily collaborate across specialties, including notable strength in cognitive psychology and cognitive neuroscience. We currently offer a BA in Psychology, MA degrees in Counseling/Counseling Psychology and Industrial-Organizational Psychology, and PhD degrees in Counseling Psychology (APA-accredited) and Industrial-Organizational Psychology. We have state approval for an MS in Cognitive Psychology with plans to start in the fall of 2026.

The Psychology undergraduate program is one of the most popular majors on campus, while our doctoral degrees represent a significant proportion of all doctoral-level graduate students in the University.

The department provides experiential training for doctoral students through the Psychological Services Clinic and AROS, an I-O Psychology consulting group.

About Louisiana Tech University

Louisiana Tech is a nationally recognized, selective-admissions research university with approximately 11,000 students. The university confers associate's, bachelor's, master's and doctoral. As a mid-size university, there are opportunities for collaboration and to engage in transdisciplinary initiatives throughout the campus, such as with our sport and exercise psychology colleagues in the department of Kinesiology. Louisiana Tech promotes an inclusive environment and is one of only 45 institutions named to the Aspire Institutional Change (iChange) network, which works to broaden participation for STEM faculty from underrepresented groups. The university is large enough to provide a stimulating environment and small enough that one person can make a big difference.

Louisiana Tech offers excellent benefits for faculty, including a fixed-benefit retirement plan and alternative retirement investment programs. Faculty members and their families receive a tuition discount at Louisiana Tech and other universities in our system, and they are also eligible to apply for reciprocal scholarships through the Tuition Exchange program. We value diversity and seek to foster it through a commitment to recruit, retain, and develop those from historically under-represented groups in academia. Our inclusive efforts are grounded in three core values around people, knowledge, and culture. Achieving inclusion excellence takes alignment of curricular offerings, resources, and programming that prepare our students and faculty to compete in a diverse global society. About Ruston

Located in North Louisiana, Ruston has a population of 22,166 and is the seat of Lincoln Parish. Ruston is located about an hour east of Shreveport on I-20. Lincoln Parish is home to a top-rated school district in the state and several private schools, as well as a 5-star elementary lab school and university preschool. The lakes, state parks, and sports complexes around Ruston offer numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation, from award-winning bike trails to outstanding golf, fishing, hiking, softball, and local festivals. Ruston has an affordable housing market, with reasonable rents and median home prices at around $270,000. Louisiana Tech and Ruston are great places to work and live.
