Who we’re looking for
The Tax Specialist: Advocacy and Policy provides technical, research, analytical, and administrative support to the Head of Tax: Advocacy and Policy in managing the Group’s tax policy framework, monitoring tax developments, supporting advocacy initiatives, and maintaining consistency in technical tax positions.
The role is responsible for tracking legislative and regulatory developments, preparing technical analyses, drafting policy documents and submissions, coordinating stakeholder inputs, and supporting the management of tax authority engagements and industry consultations. The incumbent plays a key role in ensuring that the Group remains informed and prepared for changes in tax legislation, regulation, and administrative practice across all jurisdictions in which it operates. The role contributes to the development of defensible, consistent, and commercially aligned tax positions while supporting the Group’s broader governance, advocacy, and tax risk management objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Policy, Technical Research and Advisory Support
Conduct technical tax research on legislative, regulatory, judicial, and administrative developments.
Support the development, maintenance, and implementation of Group tax policies, technical guidance, and position papers.
Assist in analysing complex tax issues and preparing technical opinions and recommendations.
Provide technical support and policy guidance to internal stakeholders and tax workstreams.
Maintain technical knowledge repositories and ensure consistency in tax positions across the Group.
Tax Advocacy and External Engagement Support
Support the Group's tax advocacy agenda through research, consultation responses, and policy submissions.
Assist in preparing responses to legislative proposals, discussion papers, and regulatory consultations.
Coordinate stakeholder contributions for industry and tax authority engagements.
Support interactions with tax authorities, regulators, industry bodies, and external advisors.
Maintain records of advocacy activities, consultations, and submissions.
Tax Developments Monitoring and Business Impact Assessment
Monitor tax legislative, regulatory, and administrative developments across relevant jurisdictions.
Assess potential impacts of tax changes on the Group's operations, financial position, compliance obligations, and business strategy.
Prepare tax alerts, summaries, impact assessments, and stakeholder communications.
Support proactive planning and readiness initiatives for upcoming tax changes.
Identify emerging tax risks and opportunities and escalate significant developments.
Governance, Reporting and Stakeholder Coordination
Support the maintenance of tax governance documentation, policy registers, and approved technical positions.
Prepare reporting and management information on tax developments, advocacy activities, and policy matters.
Coordinate information requests and communication between tax, finance, legal, risk, and business stakeholders.
Maintain accurate records of policy decisions, technical interpretations, and external engagements.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, knowledge management, and the enhancement of tax policy and governance processes.
Qualifications
Essential
Bachelor's Degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, Law, Commerce, or a related field.
Postgraduate qualification in Taxation or progress toward a recognised tax qualification.
Preferred
Honours Degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or Law.
Registered Tax Practitioner status or professional tax qualification.
Specialist studies in International Tax, Tax Policy, or Regulatory Affairs.
What you’ll bring (Experience)
Essential
3–6 years of experience in taxation, tax advisory, tax policy, legal research, or a related function.
Experience conducting technical tax research and analysing legislation.
Exposure to tax advisory, compliance, policy, governance, or regulatory environments.
Experience preparing technical reports, position papers, or stakeholder communications.
Preferred
Experience within a multinational corporate environment, professional services firm, regulatory authority, or law firm.
Exposure to international tax principles and cross-border tax matters.
Experience supporting industry consultations, policy submissions, or tax authority engagements.
Experience within online gaming, technology, digital services, or similarly regulated industries.

Strong technical tax research and analytical skills.
Good understanding of corporate income tax and international tax principles.
Knowledge of tax legislation, revenue authority guidance, and tax administration processes.

Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
Strong attention to detail and document management capability.
