Boeing Global Engineering is seeking a Principal Project Engineer - BCA STC Integration (Level 5) to join our team in Everett, WA.

Overview:

The integration of Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) (EASA, FAA, ANAC) into BCA’s delivery process represents a strategic, high visibility initiative for BCA, aimed at enabling the installation of seats, connectivity solutions and other potential customer features post-ticket. This capability significantly enhances Boeing’s ability to  offer key new features to customers by allowing the retrofit of certain options under alternative certification processes.

The Project Engineer (PE) role is central to Boeing’s ability to expand certification options to BCA via strategic and technical integration of STCs. It demands a proactive, results-driven leader capable of managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects with minimal supervision — delivering engineering integration leadership, risk management, and customer-focused execution across global Boeing teams.

Project Importance

• New Capability: Establishes the ability to certify higher risk seat installations after aircraft ticketing through an STC.
• Cross-Organizational Collaboration: Critical integration between BCA (Everett, WA) and Boeing Global Services (BGS) teams located in Germany, Ireland, and the UK.
• ‘One Boeing’ Team: Ensures smooth, collaborative execution and customer delivery by uniting engineering efforts across geographies and organizations.

Core Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Project Execution
  • The scope of this role includes technical leadership of a portfolio of technical enabler projects that integrate and streamline the work between BCA and BGS to enable a scalable, repeatable and ‘one Boeing’ process that is enduring and documented in Boeing’s formal design processes.
  • The Project Engineer role also ensures the key technical integration points between BCA-BGS of the portfolio of STC projects are kept as each project matures through the development process.

 

• Early Engagement & Risk Management
  • Support Early Engagement meetings, risk discussions, and program tracking to identify STC candidate projects early.
  • Engage with BCA Customer Engineering during early phases (~2-3 years pre-delivery) to understand evolving customer preferences and certification issues that will drive consideration of STC pathways.

• Engineering SOW and Deliverables Integration
  • Integrate BCA and BGS engineering SOW and deliverables from program STC approval (FCIS) through delivery.
  • Define work breakdown between BCA and BGS based on ticketed configuration, delivery config, and CI progress when STC decisions are made.

• Cross-Functional Data and Communication Management
  • Support commodity teams with data integration across BCA and BGS engineering disciplines (electrical, seat tracks, IFE, sidewalls, monuments, PSUs, seats, etc.).
  • Design and mature process and tool solution concepts as-needed to promote cross-functional integration.
  • Communicate airplane configuration changes (both production-driven and customer-driven) that may impact STC planning and execution.

• Oversight and Integration Issue Resolution
  • Oversee manual supplement integration process execution.
  • Manage flyaway kit configurations and resolve related certification/technical issues (e.g., seat-to-seat cable certification).
  • Proactively identify and mitigate integration risks and issues (RIOs), including supplier test or STC component challenges.
  • Facilitate cross-team support during critical program milestones (FCIS, CCBx) and CI milestones (Interiors CITR, FSD, APIE).

 

• Technical Integration & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead and support the EASA-SIT Technical Integration Forum.
  • Refine and update the EASA STC process and flow charts based on pathfinder lessons learned, pushing customer introduction points earlier in the schedule.
  • Collaborate across Boeing organizations to develop and maintain a shared, updated “Value Stream Model” documenting interface points and lessons learned related to engineering integration efforts.

Collaborations & Stakeholders:

• BCA Customer Engineering, airline customers, and suppliers for early requirements and risk assessments.
• BCA Program teams and forums for STC proposals and approvals to proceed.
• BCA Supplier Management and Seats Integration Team (SIT) for alignment on product development and certification.
• Boeing Global Services (BGS) engineering teams in Europe for coordination of joint certification and delivery work.
• Internal and external certification authorities and Boeing airplane program leadership.

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at Everett, WA.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
• 10+ years experience performing complex engineering or system integration work
• 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, peers and business partners

 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• 5+ years of experience with U.S. and/or foreign aircraft certification/regulatory processes.
• Experience with certification, product development, and/or seats is preferred.
• Certification background and/or experience working with FAA or EASA regulations and Regulatory Administration.
• Adaptable and able to operate in a dynamic environment to meet objectives on time.
• Ability to analyze, understand, organize, and communicate complex technical concepts across multiple disciplines.
• Experience leading major design changes through various phases of the product and certification lifecycle.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range:

• $176,000 - $239,000
