Job Summary
Under limited supervision, performs duties following established procedures in the following areas:
Essential Functions
- Supervises and directs personnel in warehouse in performing operations according to sound operating principles and company policies and procedures.
- Studies receiving schedules and estimates worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
- Interprets specifications, and job orders to workers.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of all inventory processes.
- Organizes work for smooth operations.
- Ensures that established policies, rules and regulations, and procedures are followed.
- Verifies correct identification, weights, and warehousing of products.
- Supervises inventory of raw materials and verifies that paperwork is correctly signed.
- Responsible for all processes, equipment, employees, safety, and housekeeping of the area and meeting production quality and quantity standards on the shift.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, and disciplinary measures.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet receiving schedules. Maintains time and production records.
- Recommends measures to improve warehousing methods, equipment performance, and quality of product, and suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department.
Additional Responsibilities
- May train new workers. May confer with other supervisors to resolve issues. May set up machines and equipment and drive a forklift.
- Must contribute to department goals. Each team member is dependent upon the contribution level of his/her co-worker.
- Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.
- Company commitments often demand timely, innovative thinking and actions.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Requires overall knowledge of milling process, forklifts, scales, standard test equipment, and production processes.
- This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain a current Food Handlers Permit.
- This position requires a forklift certification.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop or kneel; and talk or hear.
- The employee must exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, color vision, and field of vision.
