Description
Job Description & Summary
You'll join the team working on value creation projects within our Delivering Deal Value team, where Finance and Operations meet. We advise buyers and sellers on one central question: what is the financial impact of operational and organisational change during a transaction? Our work is predominantly pre-deal and covers carve-out assessments, operational due diligence, synergy assessments and business plan reviews - the analyses that shape the investment decision.
This is what you will do
As a Senior Manager you run several of these engagements at the same time. You're the central figure towards the client: you're in the room from the first scoping conversation through to the final presentation, you own the relationship, and you pick up the additional questions that inevitably come up mid-deal. You set the analytical direction, then critically challenge what your team produces. Concretely, you will:
Lead multiple pre-deal engagements in parallel, taking responsibility for scope, approach, quality and delivery on each;
Act as the client's main point of contact throughout the project, translating complex operational and financial analysis into clear answers for deal teams, CFOs and investment professionals;
Work closely with our Partners and Directors on your engagements - keeping them informed, involving them at the right moments and making sure their input lands where it counts;
Bring depth in one or more core operational functions (e.g. Finance, Supply Chain, Working Capital, Procurement, Sales) and act as the go-to person for those topics within your teams;
Critically review the work of your team - challenging assumptions, testing the logic behind the models and making sure conclusions are defensible;
Recognise where a project can go further: spotting scope extensions, follow-on work and additional client needs, and converting them into new engagements;
Build and nurture your own network in the market to stay close to deal flow and identify opportunities early;
Coach and develop Associates, Senior Associates and Managers, and help raise the analytical standard of the team.
You'll recognize yourself in this
You've done this long enough to know where the value and the risk in a deal are hiding before the analysis confirms it. You know the transaction process end to end - what a buyer needs at LOI versus at final bid, why a seller wants the carve-out story told a certain way, how a diligence finding turns into an SPA discussion - and you use that to steer clients rather than follow them. Furthermore you bring:
Deep financial acumen: you interrogate financials rather than read them. You know what a business plan is really assuming, where a normalisation is doing too much work, and how any operational fix lands in EBITDA, cash conversion, working capital and capex - and you can defend those numbers in front of a CFO, an investment committee or the other side's advisors;
Functional depth: genuine expertise in at least one core operational domain - Finance, Supply Chain, Working Capital, Procurement, Manufacturing or Commercial - deep enough that clients seek your opinion on it, combined with the breadth to run engagements that span all of them;
Commercial acumen: you see the next mandate inside the current one. You extend scope where the client genuinely needs it, maintain relationships with PE deal teams, corporate development and advisors, and bring opportunities to the practice rather than waiting for them to be assigned;
End-to-end M&A credentials: you've lived the full transaction cycle - as an advisor, in a corporate M&A or corporate development function, or in industry through acquisitions, carve-outs and integrations - and you understand the pressures, timelines and decisions on both sides of the table;
At least 8 years of relevant experience across deals advisory, operational performance improvement, corporate M&A or a senior operations role;
A proven record of leading several engagement teams at once and holding the client relationship from scoping through to final deliverable;
A university degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline;
Excellent written and spoken English; Dutch language skills are highly appreciated.
