Housing Navigator
Overall Function:
The Housing Navigator assists individuals experiencing homelessness in obtaining and maintaining permanent housing as quickly as possible. This role follows a Housing First approach and works with clients to identify housing options, overcome barriers, and connect them with stabilization services. The Housing Navigator also develops landlord partnerships, maintains program data, supports administrative needs, and participates in Continuum of Care meetings.

This role follows a Housing First approach and works with clients to identify housing options, overcome barriers, and connect them with stabilization services. The Housing Navigator also develops landlord partnerships, maintains program data, supports administrative needs, and participates in Continuum of Care meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete housing assessments and develop individualized housing plans.
- Help clients identify housing options, search for units, and communicate/negotiate with landlords.
- Build and maintain relationships with landlords, property managers, realtors, housing authorities, and supportive housing providers.
- Conduct housing outreach and education to expand available rental opportunities.
- Coordinate rental assistance, deposits, moving expenses, furnishings, and other housing-related resources.
- Coordinate or conduct housing inspections and address housing-related concerns.
- Provide tenant education on rights, responsibilities, housing discrimination, and landlord communication.
- Maintain regular communication with landlords and mediate concerns when needed.
- Maintain accurate client records and program data in Osnium and other tracking systems.
- Prepare monthly reports and assist with processing program payments and expenses.
- Collaborate with case managers and service providers to support clients during the transition to permanent housing.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and NC BOS Region 8 Continuum of Care meetings.
- Assist with Domestic Violence services as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
