Job Description

We are looking for an Application Technical Specialist (Unix Administrator / DCR or COBOL Programmer) to support and maintain mission-critical processing systems. This position will be a contract role and will support legacy DCR applications running on SCO Unix environments. This role will be hybrid onsite in Trenton, NJ.

What You'll Do

• Support and maintain legacy DCR applications operating on SCO Unix platforms
• Provide administration and support for SCO UnixWare environments
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Unix shell scripts used in batch processing operations
• Monitor and support mission-critical processing systems in production environments
• Perform flat-file processing and manage scheduled batch jobs
• Debug, analyze, and reverse engineer legacy code with limited or outdated documentation
• Collaborate with business users, developers, and technical teams to resolve application issues and implement enhancements
• Evaluate system modifications and recommend improvements to application functionality and performance
• Identify and implement best practices, standards, and process improvements to ensure high-quality service delivery
• Coordinate development and support activities as needed across application teams
• Create and maintain technical documentation relating to application functionality, support procedures, and system changes
• Participate in incident resolution, root cause analysis, and ongoing production support activities

What You'll Need

Required:

• 5+ years of overall application development experience
• 3+ years of experience with DCR programming language
• 3+ years of SCO UnixWare administration experience
• 3+ years of Unix Shell Scripting experience
• 3+ years of production support experience for legacy business applications
• Experience supporting legacy DCR applications on SCO Unix
• Experience with flat-file processing and batch job management
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and debugging capabilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders

Preferred:

• 2+ years of experience with legacy procedural programming languages such as COBOL, RPG, or C
• Experience debugging and reverse engineering legacy applications with limited documentation
• Experience with flat-file processing environments
• Advanced skills in technologies such as SharePoint, SAP, Curam, ServiceNow, HL7, or PEGA
• Experience supporting large-scale government or enterprise-level business applications

Physical Demands

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
• Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
• Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

$75 - $82 per hour

The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
