Mechanical Construction Engineer II

ACCIONA Energía is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II – Construction to support the construction of renewable energy projects across North America. This role oversees mechanical construction activities, ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with engineering designs, quality standards, contract requirements, and regulatory requirements. The Mechanical Engineer – Construction serves as a mechanical subject matter expert, supports contractor and engineering coordination, and helps drive successful project delivery from construction through commissioning and turnover to operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee contractor and subcontractor for mechanical construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, engineering drawings, quality standards, contract requirements, and industry standards.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for mechanical construction, supporting engineering reviews, contractor coordination, design reviews, and RFI management.
• Monitor construction quality to ensure all work is installed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, ACCIONA QA/QC requirements, applicable codes, and industry best practices.
• Maintain project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, drawings, meeting minutes, logs, and construction records.
• Participate in project meetings, commissioning activities, testing, startup, and project closeout to support a successful turnover to operations.
• Monitor safety and environmental compliance, support BUILD SAFE implementation, conduct root cause analyses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and assist with project reporting and KPI tracking.
• Support the training and development of new Construction Engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• EIT certification preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
• Experience in renewable energy, power generation, utility, or industrial construction projects preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with project management software such as MS Project or Primavera is a plus.
• Experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
• Willingness to travel as needed to support project requirements.
• Due to equipment and project safety requirements, this position may be subject to specific weight limitations.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

Pay & Benefits:

• Base Pay: $85,000 - $110,000
• Bonus: 10%
• Eligible for company-provided per diem during project deployment periods and a company vehicle for authorized business transportation related to project activities.

Working Conditions:

• Position is project-site based, with occasional rotation to office work, and requires temporary relocation for the duration of construction activities.
• Employees work on a rotational Rest & Recuperation (R&R) schedule designed to support work-life balance during project deployment, with schedules varying based on project needs and construction activities.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, heavy equipment operations, uneven terrain, climbing structures, and working at elevated heights.
