ITW Shakeproof Fasteners is a division of Illinois Tool Works (ITW) which supplies cold headed & metal stamped fasteners totaling approximately $200M in revenue annually. Manufacturing/Warehouse locations include Watertown, WI, Milwaukee, WI, Broadview, IL, Elgin, IL, Machesney Park, IL, and Iron Ridge, WI, with a Sales, and Innovation / Strategic Marketing team primarily in Troy, Michigan. We serve major OEMs and their tier suppliers direct and through distribution channels in the automotive and industrial markets. This position is a divisional resource responsible for ensuring exemplary support of quality complaints at our automotive and industrial customers. The Quality Engineer is instrumental in ensuring product quality for customers and investigating and remediating potential issues. As a customer facing role, the individual should expect frequent travel to our customer locations (primarily in the Midwest).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Actively manage inspection/quality practices to eliminate escapes and minimize customer returns.
Review and track all internal and customer quality concerns (NCRs). Work with customers, engineering, operations, and vendors and other company functions to determine appropriate corrective actions and facilitate the effective closure of these actions.
Report on the performance of the QMS, metrics, and all related issues during Management Reviews or as appropriate. Recommend appropriate improvements.
Maintain all Quality Assurance records.
Support internal and supplier audits, as required by customers and the company’s Quality Management System. Serve as the organizations Management Representative for audits from outside sources.
Drive cost improvement, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the division, including Six Sigma, SPC, and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Provide or facilitate the realization of training to employees as required, including indirect mentoring of maintenance and production resources.
Support and enforce all plant safety and environmental requirements and policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or at least 5 years of relevant functional experience.
Preferred two (2) to five (5) years relevant experience in Metals or Automotive.
Proficiency in ISO 9001 and IATF 16949
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, 365, SharePoint, OneNote, Lync, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Independent and organized work style: ability to effectively manage time and prioritize workload, adapt to change, and consistently meet deadlines.
Must possess good interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), critical thinking, organizational, statistical, and strong computer skills.
Must be able to work closely with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, managers, and sales to resolve quality issues.
Must have ability to motivate, coach, and lead others.
Pragmatic and results-oriented, analytical, with strong attention to detail.
Compensation Information:
Annual salary for this position ranges from $75,000 - $90,000
