This position reports to:
R&D Unit Leader__
In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the development or creation of products, systems, services, or technologies for ABB´s business units by facilitating the end-to-end execution of one or more Research and Development (R&D) projects to achieve associated milestones, targets, and desired outcomes.

Your Role and Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.
- Work model: Hybrid
Accountable for the end-to-end planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of assigned project(s).
Supports local and cross-functional project teams, including associate R&D project managers, in projects with limited complexity and/or sub-projects of a complex project.
Motivates and monitors internal and/or external resources to accomplish all committed targets.
Identifies and manages interdependencies between projects and project-level constraints to realise specified benefits.
Ensures appropriate prioritisation of requirements within a project by partnering with relevant business unit/s or other customers.
Ensures that project activities are effectively prioritised, estimated, and planned.
Monitors and controls progress on the plan to ensure achievement of commitments and targeted milestones/stage-gates.
Ensures issues, conflicts, and impediments are resolved at the appropriate level (i.e., team, project), escalating them as required.
Qualifications for the Role
Minimum 5 years in a project management position, preferably within R&D, product development, or engineering environments.
Recognised certification such as Microsoft Project, PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ, or equivalent experience.
Familiarity with stage-gate processes, ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001), and engineering change management procedures.
Proven ability to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
Strong skills in work breakdown structures, scheduling, resource allocation, and milestone tracking.
Understanding of project budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis. Ability to support business cases and investment decisions with financial data.
Hands-on technical project experience, providing credibility with engineering teams and deeper understanding of R&D challenges, prototyping, and testing phases.
Bachelor's or master’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, Software, or related engineering discipline is desirable.
