Our Disability Support Workers work closely with participants, families, Registered Nurses and other health professionals to provide safe and consistent support in the participant's home and community.
Current Opportunity – Ryde, NSW 2112
We are currently seeking experienced and reliable Disability Support Workers to provide 1:1 support to a participant located in Ryde, NSW 2112.
For this particular role, applicants must have practical experience using a hoist and assisting participants with transfers and mobility.
We are looking for workers who understand safe manual handling practices and are confident providing respectful personal care while maintaining the participant's dignity, independence and safety.
The position is offered on a contractual (sole trader/ABN) basis, providing flexibility while being supported by an established, professional and nurse-led organisation.
The Role
Depending on the participant's individual support needs and care plan, responsibilities may include:
- Using a hoist for transfers.
- Assisting with transfers and mobility.
- Following individual manual handling and transfer plans.
- Safe positioning and repositioning.
- Personal care and hygiene assistance.
- Showering, dressing and grooming.
- Toileting and continence-related assistance.
- Assistance with daily living activities.
- Meal preparation and household assistance.
- Medication prompting or assistance within the worker's authorised scope.
- Community access and social participation.
- Transport to appointments, shopping and activities where required.
- Monitoring the participant's general wellbeing.
- Following individual care and support plans.
- Maintaining accurate progress notes and support documentation.
- Reporting changes or concerns to the appropriate member of the support or clinical team.
Hoist & Manual Handling Experience:
Previous hands-on hoist experience is required for this position.
Applicants should be confident with:
- Hoist-assisted transfers.
- Correct sling positioning and attachment.
- Safe transfer techniques.
- Following participant-specific manual handling plans.
- Positioning and repositioning.
- Recognising risks during transfers.
- Maintaining the participant's comfort, privacy and dignity.
- Participant-specific orientation and guidance will be provided; however, applicants should already have practical experience supporting people who require hoist-assisted transfers.

- Experienced with hoists, transfers and manual handling.

- Comfortable providing 1:1 support.
- Able to follow detailed care and manual handling plans.
- Able to work independently and use appropriate initiative.
- Encouraging of participant independence and choice.
- Comfortable communicating with family and the broader support team.
- Interested in providing consistent, longer-term support.
What You'll Need:
Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain where applicable:
- Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent/relevant qualification.
- Previous practical experience using a hoist.
- Experience with personal care and manual handling.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current National Police Check.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Current CPR certification.
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You.
- Australian working rights.
- Australian Business Number (ABN) or willingness to obtain one.
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport where required.
- A professional, reliable and participant-focused approach.
